NH STATE FIRE MARSHAL INVESTIGATES TENT COLLAPSE IN LANCASTER

The Office of the State Fire Marshal is investigating the collapse of a circus tent that occurred during the 5:30 showing of the Walker Brothers International Circus out of Sarasota, Florida.

Approximately 100 people were in attendance. Two spectators died, an adult male and a youth. The exact number of injured has not been confirmed and is estimated at 15. The injured were taken to Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin, Weeks Medical Center in Lancaster, Littleton Regional Hospital in Littleton, and Dartmouth Medical Center in Lebanon.

A storm producing 1-inch hail, 60 mph winds and severe lightening was moving through the area at the time of collapse, the National Weather Service reported.

The Fire Marshal continues to investigate with assistance from the State Police.
