Citizens For A Strong NH - Shaheen misleads NH after Planned Parenthood vote

Senator Jeanne Shaheen Gets Caught Making Contradictory Statements After Planned Parenthood Vote
"We call on our senator to explain her doublespeak and apologize to her constituents for her actions immediately."
(Manchester, August 4, 2015) - Planned Parenthood has come under increased scrutiny  after a group recently released a series of videos that showed the organization making money off of the sale of fetal tissue. In response, there was a vote last evening in the US Senate to stop providing Planned Parenthood with federal funds. That initiative failed 53-46.

After the vote, US Senator Shaheen, who voted against the bill, released a statement through her federal office in Washington, D.C. In her quote, Shaheen said the videos were "highly edited."

Interestingly enough, John McCormack at the Weekly Standard caught up with Senator Jeanne Shaheen and directly asked her about the Planned Parenthood video tapes. "I have not seen them," Senator Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire told McCormack after the vote.

Granite Staters deserve an immediate explanation from Senator Shaheen. How could she vote against last night's bill and call the Planned Parenthood videos "highly edited," while also admitting she never saw them?

Derek Dufresne, spokesman for Citizens for a Strong New Hampshire, released the following statement:
"Granite Staters deserve senators in Washington who tell them the truth. While New Hampshire residents certainly understand they will not agree with their leaders all of the time, they rightfully expect that their elected officials will not mislead them either.

"It is extremely troubling how Senator Jeanne Shaheen was caught blatantly misleading her constituents last evening. In one breath, she called the Planned Parenthood videos 'highly edited.' In another, she admitted she had never even watched them. How could Senator Shaheen make accusations about the authenticity of the videos when she also admits she has never seen them? Furthermore, how did she make a logical vote on Granite Staters' behalf without even watching the videos that prompted the legislative initiative? We call on our senator to explain her doublespeak and apologize to her constituents for her actions immediately."
