NHGOP STATEMENT ON FIRST IN THE NATION PRIMARY STATUS

Concord - New Hampshire Republican State Committee Chairman Jennifer Horn today released the following statement on reports regarding New Hampshire's status as the First-in-the-Nation presidential primary state:

"New Hampshire has earned its place as the First-in-the-Nation presidential primary state because our voters are sophisticated and take their role in the nomination process seriously. The entire nation benefits when candidates are forced to answer the concerns of voters face-to-face in living rooms and backyards across New Hampshire. Governor Hassan and Senator Shaheen are trying to rig New Hampshire's presidential primary with early endorsements of Hillary Clinton, despite strong grassroots support for Bernie Sanders. Granite Staters resent being told how to vote by party bosses such as Governor Hassan and Senator Shaheen, and their clear attempt to coronate Hillary Clinton does a disservice to our First-in-the-Nation presidential primary process. The New Hampshire Republican State Committee is committed to fighting any attempt to threaten our status after 2016."
