EXETER, NH - Executive Councilor Chris Sununu, Republican candidate for governor, issued the following statement regarding the confirmation of Jeff Meyers as the Commissioner of the Department of Health and Human Services.
"The Department of HHS serves some of New Hampshire's most vulnerable citizens. Therefore, the level of customer service to those individuals and families must be second to none. More than any other department, HHS requires capable and decisive leadership that won't let political agendas get in the way of best practices and quality service.
"I am hopeful that as the new commissioner, Jeff Meyers will work to strengthen and improve HHS, while maintaining accountability and transparency within the department. The people who rely on the department's services, as well as its valued employees deserve nothing less.
"I look forward to working with Jeff as New Hampshire tackles some of its biggest challenges yet in the areas of mental health, substance abuse, and Medicaid expansion."
