Manchester City Clerks Office - Voter Registration Drive
Please be advised that the Office of the City Clerk of the City of Manchester is conducting an unprecedented voter registration initiative. Our goal is to expedite the wait time on Election Day by minimizing the number of people looking to register at the polls. The attached flyer identifies several upcoming dates that our staff will be out in the community registering voters.
We need your help and the help of your organization in raising public awareness of this effort. The more people we can register in the next five weeks will only make for a better experience for all voters on November 4th.
Thanks again for your help!

DENVER – The Democratic National Convention Committee (DNCC) today unveiled plans for a unity breakfast to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the March on Washington on Thursday, August 28 during the 2008 Democratic National Convention in Denver. Live Free or Die Rally - Update
We have many RSVP's from good folks nationwide. Its that handful that drive ya nuts every year before event, LFOD statement bulked out yesterday was intended for them.
We did 1000+ bulk invite reminder e-mailing off our mailing list last week. I screwed up & part went out not BCC'd. A twit in CO attached bunch of crap to it & re-emailed it. Luckily, most knew it wasn't from us.
Too bad about Poker Face mess. Stuff going back & forth with FSP. I made clear it wasn't just FSP. Everyone’s & organizations hands held over the fire. That seems to be finally calming down. Hopefully for the best.
If damn rain lets up will be best year yet.
Sent out call to arms for volunteers & minutemen for battle. Many responses. Abernaki tribe calls & sez: "Our ancestors were in Continental Army" I said, "Don't forget the Tee-Pee's". He Sez: Their Wig-Wams".

DNC Statement on Anniversary of Voting Rights Act
Washington, DC--Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean and DNC Voting Rights Institute Chair Donna Brazile issued the following statement to commemorate the forty-third anniversary of the signing of the Voting Rights Act by President Lyndon Johnson in 1965:
"This week we commemorate the signing of the Voting Rights Act, a bill that has come to be known as one of the most important pieces of civil rights legislation in history. Its mission was to promote democracy by tearing down institutional barriers to voter registration and polling places and represents our core Democratic values. This legislation has brought enormous advancement, but there is more work to be done to improve the voting process and ensure it is fair and accessible to all. That's why the Democratic Party is still working everyday to fulfill the full promise of the Voting Rights Acts and make it easier to register to vote, cast a ballot and know your vote counts. And we need a president committed to the enforcement of the Voting Rights Act and protecting the rights of all citizens to participate in the electoral process."DNC & Obama For President - Announce Unprecedented $20 Million Commitment to Engage and Mobilize Hispanic Voters
Members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus joined representatives of the Obama campaign and the DNC for the official announcement, which followed a briefing on the campaign's Hispanic outreach program for 150 Latino community leaders from around the country at Party headquarters.
"Senator Obama is honored to have earned a strong lead among Hispanic voters, but neither he nor the Democratic Party is taking a single vote for granted," said Frank Sanchez, Obama for America National Hispanic Leadership Council Chairman. "We know we have a lot of work to do, and this bold and unprecedented commitment to engaging and empowering Hispanic voters in our political process is an important step toward the November elections."
"This important commitment builds on the work we've done in the Democratic Party over the past three years to engage Hispanic voters, and to reject the Republican Party's politics of division," said DNC Chairman Howard Dean. "Hispanics are often disproportionately affected by the negative consequences of the failed Bush-McCain policies affecting every American. Whether it's about John McCain's promise to continue the same Bush economic policies that have led to a decline in median income for Hispanic households and a rise in unemployment, or the same foreign policy that has made Americans and our allies less safe while emboldening anti-American sentiment across the globe, Hispanic voters are looking for change."
The unprecedented $20 million commitment to engage and mobilize Hispanics will include voter mobilization, voter registration, online organizing, community outreach and paid advertising. Part of the effort will also include "Camp Obama" trainings around the country, which will empower Hispanics with the organizing tools and information they need to engage and turn out voters in their home neighborhoods and states. Both the Obama campaign and the Democratic National Committee also have Hispanic staff involved at every level of the campaign, from field organizers to senior roles.
Senator Barack Obama's campaign has already spent more on Hispanic outreach than any presidential campaign before it, and now the Obama campaign and the Democratic National Committee will join together in this unprecedented initiative to continue promoting engagement and mobilization among Hispanic voters and build on already overwhelming Hispanic support for the Democratic party and Senator Obama.
"Hispanic voters are already seeing the contrast between Senator McCain's campaign of the past and Senator Obama's campaign of change, hope, and opportunity," said DNC Hispanic Caucus Chair Ramona Martinez, "this remarkable commitment will help us continue to highlight that contrast."
