MANCHESTER (June 20, 2007) – Manchester Mayor Frank Guinta, Manchester School District Superintendent Michael Ludwell and members of the Manchester Boards of School Committee and Alderman will be on hand to honor Manchester high school graduates who have enlisted in the United States military. This event will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 21, 2007, in the City Hall Aldermanic Chambers, One City Hall Plaza, Manchester.
"It is an honor that I, and other city and school officials, will have the opportunity to acknowledge and support the commitment Manchester students are making to the country," Mayor Guinta said. "Our country’s existence is based on a strong volunteer military, and it is important that we recognize those that are doing their part to strengthen America."
The event will include songs, readings from various literary pieces, and certificates to commemorate the service of these graduates.
"The district feels that having a ceremony separate and apart from graduation to honor students who will be serving in the armed forces is an appropriate way to highlight their sacrifice and service," Superintendent Ludwell said.
