Edwards for President Campaign Holds Iraq War Policy Forum in Concord

(Manchester, NH) – The Edwards for President campaign hosted a policy forum on the Iraq war today with senior foreign policy adviser to the campaign Mike Signer, the first of five forums to be held across New Hampshire this week.

“New Hampshire voters look beyond sound bites and hype and demand real substance from candidates,” said Signer. “From ending the war in Iraq to fighting poverty to creating truly universal health care, Senator Edwards has proposed detailed policies and has led the way on every issue. These forums allow Granite Staters to learn more about his positions, and also to share their concerns and proposals.”

Monday’s forum focused on Senator Edwards’ plan to force an immediate drawdown of 40,000-50,000 troops and a complete withdrawal of our troops within the next year.

“Nearly 75% of New Hampshire voters disapprove of the way this President is handling the war in Iraq," continued Signer, referring to a July 17th CNN/WMUR poll. "Senator Edwards' plan would bring a quick but safe end to the war in a way that protects American troops and our security interests in the region."

The series of policy forums will continue through Thursday, July 26th, and will cover Edwards’ policies concerning Iraq, veterans’ issues, the environment, disability issues and health care.

National Campaign Manager Congressman David Bonior, adviser to the campaign General Gregory “Speedy” Martin, and other policy staff will participate in the upcoming forums. The forums are free and open to the public – a schedule of the remaining forums is below. For more information or to RSVP go to www.johnedwards.com/nh/events.
