MANCHESTER (August 15, 2007) – Mayor Frank Guinta will be meeting with Taylor Caswell, New England Regional Director for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. He will be on hand to tour Granite Square in West Manchester and discuss redevelopment in the area. The meeting will take place at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, August 17, 2007, at Granite Square; South Main Street; Manchester.
“Having Mr. Caswell tour the square is important, because it shows that HUD recognizes both the area’s importance and its potential,” Mayor Guinta said. “Two of my top issues have been neighborhood revitalization and economic development, and the
Granite Square project addresses these two important concerns, particularly as the Granite Street widening project nears completion.”
Robert Tourigny, executive director of NeighborWorks Manchester, will also be at the tour. NeighborWorks is heading up the revitalization as part of its West Side Initiative. “The time and effort NeighborWorks has put into this plan is very much appreciated and will be key in the successful transformation of this area,” Guinta said.
Mayor Guinta, Mr. Caswell and Mr. Tourigny will be available to answer questions after the tour.
