NH Dept of Corrections Names Administrator for Female Offenders

( Concord , NH ) New Hampshire Department of Corrections Commissioner William L. Wrenn announces that an Administrator for Female Programs has been appointed. Lori Seog, a Corrections Counselor/Case Manager (CC/CM) at the Lakes Region Facility in Laconia , will assume those duties on July 20, 2007 .

CC/CM Seog's background includes twenty years of public and community-based management experience in working with families. Prior to coming to the Department of Corrections in November 2004, she was a Family Support Manager for Lakes Region Community Services Council and Executive Director of the Penacook Community Center .

In 2006 the New Hampshire Legislature passed SB-262, which established the position of an Administrator of Women Offenders and Family Services and the Interagency Coordinating Council of Women Offenders. The intent is to establish goals and objectives to plan, organize, implement, direct, and monitor gender-responsive programs and services.

" New Hampshire 's female prison population continues to grow and it is important to provide them with appropriate and ample opportunities to better succeed in the community. Lori will play a vital role in this area," Commissioner Wrenn said.

Approximately 180 women are incarcerated at the New Hampshire State Prison for Women in Goffstown and at the Shea Farm Halfway House in Concord .
