Stonewall Democrats to Hear Buckley at the Barley House

Ray Buckley was elected to head the New Hampshire Democratic Party at the party convention in June 2007. Within a month of his election, he had taken steps to increase diversity within the party participants. He established a number of affirmative action teams to increase diversity among delegates to next summer’s national convention and had named co-chairs to revive a chapter of Stonewall Democrats, an organization that promotes the participation of gays, lesbians, bi-sexual and transgendered people in the Democratic Party.

Buckley appointed two state legislators to lead Stonewall Democrats in the Granite State. Co-chairs are the freshman legislator from Hart’s Location, Representative Ed Butler and veteran legislator from Sanbornton, Representative Gail Morrison. A steering committeee has been established with members from towns and cities throughout the state.

Buckley will be the guest speaker at Stonewall Democrats first social meeting to which potential members are invited. The event will be held on Tuesday evening, August 21, 2007 at 6:30 p.m. downstairs at the Barley House Restaurant, 132 N. Main St., across the street from the State House in Concord.
