DOVER – U.S. Rep. Carol Shea-Porter and 2008 U.S. Senate candidates Dr. Jay Buckey and Gov. Jeanne Shaheen will be the featured speakers at the annual Strafford County Democratic Victory Dinner Saturday, Oct. 13 at 6:00 p.m. at the Governors Inn, 73 Wakefield St., Rochester.
The Victory Dinner celebrates party unity, past victories and kicks off the 2008 election cycle in Strafford County.
“Our success at the polls in 2006 was the result of hard work by hundreds of Democrats who pulled together to re-elect Gov. Lynch, create a Democratic majority in Concord and send Carol Shea-Porter to Congress,” Strafford County Democratic chair Joan Ashwell said. “We’ll continue to reach out to Democrats, independents and Republicans in the coming year to elect candidates who’ll keep New Hampshire moving forward and address the real challenges facing our nation.”
Rep. Shea-Porter’s grass roots campaign for Congress drew national attention last year. The 2008 U.S. Senate race is expected to attract the spotlight as well. Former three-term Gov. Jeanne Shaheen of Madbury and former astronaut Dr. Jay Buckey of Hanover are already working hard to attract support for the Democratic nomination.
Strafford County elected officials and representatives of the Democratic presidential candidates are also expected to attend the Victory Dinner to meet and mingle with party activists.
Tickets are $50 and may be reserved by contacting Strafford County chair Joan Ashwell at (603) 868-3775 or firstname.lastname@example.org. A limited number of sponsorships are also available for $150, $250 and $350. Proceeds from the Victory Dinner fund activities around Strafford County supporting Democratic candidates at the national, state and county level.
