AUL - Tell Your Senators to Protect Americans' Freedom of Conscience

This is a call for action: last Friday, the Obama Administration continued its unprecedented attack on Americans’ freedom of conscience by refusing to reverse its mandate that nearly all insurance plans must provide full coverage of all Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved “contraception,” including the abortion-inducing drug ella.  We must urge the Senate to protect Americans’ freedom of conscience by supporting the Blunt Amendment to protect the right to provide, purchase, or enroll in healthcare coverage that is consistent with one’s religious beliefs and moral convictions.

Follow this link to contact your Senators and urge them to vote for the Blunt Amendment.  Tell them that passage of this Amendment is essential to preserve the freedom of conscience that forms the bedrock of American liberty.

The 111th Congress’ passage of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) in March 2010 marks the first time that the federal government determined to impose specific coverage and care requirements on those who provide, purchase, or enroll in healthcare insurance.

The recent regulation issued by the Department of Health and Human Service (HHS) mandating that nearly all insurance plans provide full coverage of all FDA-approved “contraception”—which includes life-ending drugs and devices, such as the abortion-inducing drug ella—further underscores the Administration’s unwavering resolve to undermine our freedom of conscience.  The HHS mandate compels Americans to choose a plan that covers services—as well as life-ending drugs and devices—that are contrary to our consciences, and forces healthcare insurance providers to furnish such plans regardless of the providers’ religious beliefs or moral convictions.

Contact your Senators now and urge them to vote for the Blunt Amendment to safeguard Americans' freedom of conscience.

Thomas Jefferson wrote: “No provision in our Constitution ought to be dearer to man than that which protects the rights of conscience against the enterprises of civil authority.”  Thank you for standing with us for life and freedom at this critical time in history.

NHDP - Does Ovide Lamontagne Support Repealing Birth Control Coverage?

Concord, NH - Does Republican Gubernatorial candidate Ovide Lamontagne support repealing New Hampshire's 12-year-old law guaranteeing women equity in contraceptive coverage?  Yesterday, House Speaker Bill O'Brien announced that he would seek to repeal New Hampshire's law, after it was suddenly brought to his attention by national Republican insiders over a decade after it was passed.

"Lamontagne needs to tell the women of New Hampshire whether as governor he would take away equal protection for birth control coverage, and add hundreds of dollars a  year to their health care costs," said Terie Norelli, Democratic Leader in the House.

A Republican-led House passed the law in 1999 requiring insurers to treat contraceptive prescriptions the same way they treat other prescriptions. SB175 passed the House 243-85, with 120 Republicans, 121 Democrats, and two Independents voting in favor of the measure.  It passed the Senate in similar bi-partisan fashion, and had four Republican co-sponsors.

"I voted for this law because it is about fairness and equity. Women deserve to have their prescriptions covered the same way other prescriptions, like Viagra, are covered," said Norelli.

Lamontagne has already made clear that he will serve as a rubber stamp for Bill O'Brien's agenda, showing up last week to support their efforts to repeal same-sex marriage and collective bargaining rights for employees. Another Republican gubernatorial candidate, Kevin Smith, showed up at yesterday's Republican leadership press conference to support repealing birth control coverage for women.

"Ovide Lamontagne needs to tell us now: Does he stand with the Republican Leadership in the legislature or for fairness for the women of New Hampshire," added Norelli.

AUL - Dr. Charmaine Yoest and Abby Johnson team up to march for life as President Obama applauds abortion

Bench Briefs Forward Button

In this Issue: AUL’s achievements for life noted as journalists analyze the fallout from the 39-year-old Roe v. Wade decision, while President Obama says that abortion helps our daughters “fulfill their dreams.”

Across the Country, the Defense of Life in State Legislatures Continues as Thousands Come
to Nation’s Capital Mourning
39 Years of Roe v. Wade
March for Life 2012

In advance of the 39th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the sweeping U.S. Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion in all fifty states based on the will of a few robed individuals, Americans United for Life released the “Life List,” a ranking of the 50 states based on advances made through pro-life legislation. While the thousands who marched on Washington, D.C. got minimal media attention, across the country reporters took note of the incredible contributions AUL has been making toward reversing Roe v. Wade.

“Americans United for Life is preparing to release the next round of cutting-edge legislation designed to go even further in protecting life,” said AUL President and CEO Dr. Charmaine Yoest. “The next edition of Defending Life will build on the strong foundation of 2011 victories.”

In dismal January rain, thousands of young people marched while carrying AUL’s signature “Life Counts” signs. For a first-hand look at Washington Post and Fox News coverage, click here and here

Charmaine Yoest & Abby Johnson
During March for Life events, Dr. Yoest was joined by former Planned Parenthood clinic director Abby Johnson, who left her position to work against the life-ending practices of the nation’s largest abortion provider. Ms. Johnson recently joined AUL as a Senior Policy Advisor. While at Planned Parenthood, Johnson was a clinic director in the fourth largest Planned Parenthood affiliate in the United States.”

FROM THE WASHINGTON POST: Noting AUL’s signature contribution to life-related legislation, AUL’s coverage included a Q & A interview with Sarah Kliff of the Washington Post who noted that AUL “frequently works with state legislators, writing model abortion restrictions that get adapted and passed across the country, and saw a particularly successful year in 2011. Americans United for Life was involved with 28 laws that passed last year, including ones that bar insurers from covering abortion and others that defund abortion providers.”

Sarah Kliff: There seems to be pretty widespread agreement that a lot changed on abortion rights and restrictions in 2011, with states passing a record number of laws on this issue. How did this happen?

Charmaine Yoest: The most obvious thing was the 2010 election. While the headlines were all about the changing command in the House of Representatives, what we were seeing was a tidal wave of new pro-life legislators in state houses. When we saw this big wave come in, we were ready to grab the ball and run with it. Last year, 28 laws that we were involved with passed. It was breathtaking.

Interestingly, the idea of a “breathtaking year” for the pro-life movement sent horrifying shockwaves through MSNBC where Rachel Maddow railed against all the pro-life gains in 2011, naming AUL in particular.

FROM THE ASSOCIATED PRESS: Although the economy will be a major election year issue, “abortion will likely be in the election-year spotlight in a slew of states facing possible votes on sweeping abortion bans … Charmaine Yoest of Americans United for Life, one of the anti-abortion groups active in state legislatures, said she expected many more victories this year.”

In 2011, 47 states considered more than 460 measures related to abortion and the overwhelming majority of these measures were life-affirming.  As a result, more than 70 life-affirming, abortion-related measures were enacted.

AUL legislative involvement was significant. During the 2011 state legislative session, at least 86 bills were introduced in 32 states that were based on AUL’s model language or consultations. AUL’s experts testified 21 times, supporting 20 pro-life bills and opposing legislation in Hawaii that would have severely compromised healthcare freedom of conscience. And AUL distributed more than 1,600 copies of our model legislation (with accompanying policy guides) to individuals in 47 states, the District of Columbia, and overseas nations.

FROM THE WASHINGTON TIMES:  Denise Burke, AUL’s Vice President of Legal Affairs, developed the “Life List” and wrote about national events that contributed to Planned Parenthood’s evolving collapse in a column titled “Dead Wrong, Nearly 40 years after Roe v. Wade, states seek to end tyranny of abortion industry.” She observed, “Last year was a bad year for the abortion industry.  Each passing month seemed to expose more of its ‘dirty laundry’ and, in direct response, state legislatures enacted a historic number of laws intended to put an end to the tyranny of abortion-on-demand and to the American taxpayers’ unwitting complicity in it.” To read the full article click here.

FROM U.S. NEWS AND WORLD REPORT: Reporter Paul Bedard noted that Barack Obama’s home states of Illinois and Hawaii fared poorly on the “Life List.” To read more on the “Life List” click here.

ACROSS THE COUNTRY: State legislatures and even governors celebrated their standings as champions for Life, and members of Congress applauded their home states from the House floor. Click here and here to watch more.

President Obama Proclaims Abortion Necessary for “Our Daughters … to Fulfill their Dreams.”

Back in Washington, D.C., while thousands mourned the over 50 million lives lost to abortion, President Barack Obama said the 39th anniversary of Roe v. Wade is the chance to position abortion as a “fundamental constitutional right” and to “continue our efforts to ensure that our daughters have the same rights, freedoms, and opportunities as our sons to fulfill their dreams.”

“I remain committed to protecting a woman’s right to choose and this fundamental constitutional right,” said President Obama. For his full remarks, click here:

Dr. Yoest called the President’s choice of words “a tragic disregard for the great gift of life found in each child.”

“One of the great lies of the abortion industry is that women are somehow diminished by motherhood and that their only meaningful contribution to society comes through paid work,” said Dr. Yoest.

“Women have the ability to achieve their dreams and embrace their families. To insinuate otherwise is an insult to the multi-faceted contributions of women to our nation.”

Obama Puts Expiration Date on Pro-Life Conscience Rights

On Friday, the Obama Administration added insult to injury, announcing that it would give some religious nonprofits an additional year to “adapt” to its coercive mandate that nearly all insurance plans provide coverage for the abortion-inducing drug ella, wrote AUL attorney Anna Franzonello.

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius announced that these employers have one more year to get their priorities straight and align their consciences with the anti-life agenda of the Obama Administration … Putting an expiration date on the freedom of conscience is not a “balance”; it is an utter denial of rights guaranteed by the First Amendment. Across the Country: AUL Testifies for Life

This week, AUL Vice President of Government Affairs Daniel McConchie went New Hampshire to testify before the state legislature on pending legislation.

McConchie called on New Hampshire’s legislators to vote in favor of HB1659, the Women’s Right to Know Act, which would ensure women have the ability to hear all of the medical details about abortion and have 24 hours to consider the information before making a decision. The bill, based on AUL’s model legislation, would ensure women are fully informed about abortion risks before making a decision they may later regret.Additionally, McConchie testified on behalf of HB1653, a bill to protect the right of conscience of healthcare providers. AUL - Which States Rank at the Top of AUL's Life List?

In This IssueAUL releases our seventh annual “Life List” showing how the 50 states compare when it comes to protecting life; Two influential pro-life women join AUL’s efforts as anniversary of Roe approaches; and Dr. Yoest leads the way in celebrating a win in a Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals case involving a Texas sonogram law.

Americans United for Life “Life List” Shows Huge Legislative Gains for Life in the 50 states in 2011

“States are using the blueprint in AUL’s Defending Life guidebook of model legislation to provide innovative protections for all – from birth to natural death,”
says AUL’s President Dr. Charmaine Yoest

Americans United for Life released our seventh annual “Life List” this week – a ranking of all 50 states based on the way each addresses a comprehensive list of life issues – from abortion to euthanasia. For the second time in three years, Louisiana tops the list, followed closely by Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Nebraska and Arkansas.

Washington, California, Hawaii, Vermont and Montana come in as the least life-affirming states, while Arizona, Indiana, Kansas, North Carolina and Utah rate as the “most improved.” For the entire list, and a graphic model of the nation, click here.

AUL President and CEO Dr. Charmaine Yoest said that the remarkable gains for life at the state level reveal that the many state legislators are using AUL’s blueprint for legislative changes to save lives now and prepare for the day when Roe v. Wade is overturned. 2011 was a watershed year in the defense of life.  Forty-seven states considered more than 460 abortion-related measures, ultimately enacting more than 70 of them.

Yoest noted that AUL legislative involvement was significant. During the 2011 state legislative session:

• At least 86 bills were introduced in 32 states that were based in whole or in part on AUL’s model language and/or on which AUL consulted and advised.

• AUL’s experts testified 21 times, supporting 20 pro-life bills and opposing legislation in Hawaii that would have compromised healthcare freedom of conscience.

• AUL distributed more than 1,600 copies of our model legislation (with accompanying policy guides) to individuals in 47 states, the District of Columbia, and overseas nations.

“As the legal arm of the pro-life movement, the AUL legal team has created the legal architecture for reversing Roe v. Wade,” said Dr. Yoest. “The states are preparing for the day after Roe. And as the Life List documents, we’re seeing tremendous gains in defending life in law.”

MEDIA ADVISORY:
Charmaine Yoest and Abby Johnson join together
to
mark the anniversary of Roe v. Wade

Kellie Fiedorek, Dr. Charmaine Yoest, Rep. Marsha Blackburn,
Abby Johnson, & Dan McConchie

Dr. Charmaine Yoest and well-known former Planned Parenthood clinic director Abby Johnson will join forces during Monday’s March for Life, walking together along with thousands to celebrate the hope of a nation in which everyone is welcomed in life and protected in law. Johnson recently joined AUL as a Senior Policy Advisor, helping to refine and advocate for pro-life public policy at the state level. While at Planned Parenthood, Johnson was a clinic director in the fourth largest Planned Parenthood affiliate in the United States.

For interviews Monday related to the March for Life event, contact press@aul.org.

Care Net General Counsel Jeanneane Maxon joins AUL as Vice President of External Affairs and Corporate Counsel

“Jeanneane’s legal intellect is matched by her loving compassion for all who suffer
at the hands of the abortion industry,” said AUL’s Dr. Charmaine Yoest.

Dr. Charmaine Yoest announced this week that Jeanneane Maxon, formerly Care Net General Counsel, has joined the nation’s premier legal team as Vice President of External Affairs and Corporate Counsel. Maxon also served on the board of AUL before transitioning to her new role beginning in mid-January.

"I cannot imagine anyone better for this role of shepherding the public image of AUL and overseeing the legal language that is AUL’s signature contribution to the public policy debate over life issues,” said Dr. Yoest.

“Americans United for Life is the most important public policy and legal force for life in the nation,” said Ms. Maxon. “The plans underway for 2012 make AUL the place to be in this pivotal year.”

Dr. Yoest debates NARAL’s Nancy Keenan on a pro-life win in the Fifth Circuit
Court of Appeals

Twice in three days, Dr. Yoest discussed on the FOX News channel a unanimous decision from the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals in which pro-life Americans won an important victory. A three-judge panel upheld a newly enacted Texas ultrasound law and vacated a lower court’s injunction against the law’s enforcement. At issue is the constitutionality of a law requiring that a pregnant woman be given an ultrasound and provided medical information about her child’s stage of development before an abortion. “One Step at a Time”
World Magazine features AUL in
pro-life special issue

In his lead editorial marking the anniversary of Roe v. Wade and in a Question and Answer article, World Magazine’s Marvin Olasky noted the accomplishments of AUL and our “successful strategy across the country.”

His wide-ranging discussion with Dr. Yoest included the following exchange:

Twenty years ago pro-life leaders were asking whether younger people would be pro-life. What are you seeing now? The data are clear: This generation of young people is much more pro-life than their parents were. Part of the reason is that we're on the side of science, of technology. This is the post-sonogram generation. The first baby picture in their baby books is a sonogram picture. Sonograms are not just getting stuck on the refrigerator, they're getting put on YouTube and set to music, linked on Facebook, shared via Tumblr and Twitter, and sent all the way around the world in the time it takes to finish the sentence. I love being on our side of the issue!

More In the News

From Chuck Colson’s Breakpoint: In a column that ran in many locations across the country, noted Christian leader and author Chuck Colson talked about the current struggles to protect life. He wrote, “The pro-life cause is gaining tremendous ground in the states. Let me list just some of the signs of progress. According to Americans United for Life (AUL) five states have reacted to ObamaCare by restricting insurance coverage of abortion: Florida, Idaho, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Virginia. Good start.

“In addition, more than 30 states have either introduced or are laying the groundwork to introduce an opt-out bill as soon as their legislative calendars allow. Many have already passed such legislation like Arizona, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Utah, [and] Mississippi.

“Meanwhile, AUL sees ‘an unprecedented level of pro-life activity in the states.’”

K OF C MARCH FOR LIFE, WELCOME PRO-ABORTION POLS, 18/Jan/2012

Fr. Michael J. McGivney founded the Knights of Columbus, a Roman Catholic fraternal order, in the basement of St. Mary's Church, New Haven, CT in 1882.  The principles are Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism. Membership is predominantly laymen.  Priests have free life membership.  A third of the 1.8 million members buy insurance.  The K of C gave a record $154 million to charity in 2010, with $125 million of it coming from local/State Councils. The K of C will be praised at the March for Life.

Just $3 million (only 2%) of K of C donations in 2010 went to Pro-Life! (an increase of $1.1m from 2009, thanks to pressure from readers). However, the K of C Museum in New Haven received more - $3.2m. KofC.org/un/en/resources/Conv/2011/Charity.pdf

K of C Archbishop Timothy Dolan of NY, President of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), ought to be well-informed, but claimed he was “deceived” about the threat of Gay Marriage -  which was already in 5 states : CT, IA, MA, NH, VT; also DC (introduced, later defeated in CA, ME)!  http://www.lifesitenews.com/news/we-were-deceived-on-new-york-gay-marriage-vote-archbishop-dolan

Yet, after K of C State Senators Joe Addabbo & David Carlucci cast crucial votes to pass Gay Marriage in NY (33-29) on 24/Jun/11, he made NO statement condemning his traitor brother Knights.

Dick Guerriero, MA State Deputy 2004-06, failed to suspend Pro-Abortion/Pro-Gay pols, but he signed an Open Letter of 11/Jan/07 endorsing Mitt Romney* (R), who, as Governor - without any change in the law - introduced Gay Marriage licenses on 17/May/04.  On 14/Jun/07, the heavily-Catholic MA Legislature, meeting in Con-Con, voted to defeat the efforts of 170,000 voter signatories to place one man/one woman marriage on the ’08 ballot. Republicans (R), others Dems. *MassResistance.org

At least 16 Massachusetts K of C pols caused the defeat;10 italicized have top Planned Parenthood ratings (PPLMVotes.org): Speaker Sal DiMasi (sentenced to 8 years for kickback scheme, 9/Sep/11), House Majority Leader John Rogers, Rep Garret Bradley, Bob DeLeo (now Speaker), Stephen DiNatale, Chris Donelan, Chris Fallon**, Kevin Honan, Paul McMurtry, Charles Murphy, Bob Nyman, Angelo Puppolo**, Bob Spellane; Senators Michael Knapik (R) (PGK), Tom McGee, Michael Morrissey (Mass.Gov).  **Masons.  For centuries, Catholics have been forbidden to join the Masons!

These K of C Reps voted $750k for Gay Programs in MA public schools. Senators voted an increase to $850k on 22/May/08.  In July ’08, they (except Puppolo) repealed a 1913 law, thus allowing same-sex couples from 50 states to marry in MA.  By July ’09, 14 K of C pols had signed in support of an access-for-all-genders “Bathroom Bill” H. 1728.

K of C claims to be the “Strong right arm of the Church” and to be Pro-Life!  This was true when John McDevitt was Supreme Knight (1964-1977).  Carl Anderson ($1,216,524/yr***), SK since 2000, fails to suspend/expel the many Pro-Abortion/Pro-Homosexual K of C pols.  His 2010 Supreme Knight Message to State Conventions video never mentioned the Right to Life or marriage. This is very grave, given that he is a member of the Pontifical Academy for Life, the Pontifical Council for the Family and is a USCCB Pro-Life Committee consultant.  On 14/Dec/10, 2 cases alleging sex abuse of minors were filed against the K of C. ***All Salaries from K of C reports to the Nebraska Department of Insurance.

Virgil Dechant, SK 1977-2000, & K of C Board of Dirs. “refused to capitulate” to Pro-Life Catholics who criticized the Order for not expelling “pro-choice” pols (K of C Official History: Faith and Fraternalism, 1992, P451). He received $2,164,805 on retirement! As a Past SK, Dechant is a lifetime Supreme Dir.  In 2005, at the Supreme Con. in Chicago, he told Ken Fisher, Pres. of Concerned Roman Catholics of America (CRCOA), that Pro-Abortion pols will never be expelled.    K of C: Page 1 of 3

Patrick Korten, VP for Communications, said that Pro-Abortion members are “few” and “irrelevant” (Boston Herald 11/Aug/07).  Joe Mauro, Executive VP Agencies & Marketing ($386,321/yr, retired 2001), said on tape, circa 1991, that Pro-Lifers who were writing “thousands and thousands of letters” to K of C HQ seeking to expel Pro-Abortion members, are “...real fanatics out there, radicals...this is the ‘House Rule’...I, I’d prefer you kept silent on the issue (abortion)”.

Supreme Advocate (lawyer) John Marrella ($400,055/yr), wrote on 15/Apr/10 that subordinate councils may not discipline public figures. Marrella is opposing the K of C Charter Constitution and Laws SEC. 162., which specifies suspension by the State Deputy under SEC. 166. for Giving Scandal etc.  No bishop, or any member of the clergy, is required to be involved in the suspension process!

Marrella wrote to NY K of C on 13/Jan/2010 - without any legal basis - that members, state/local councils must not contact pols on matters of faith/morals, except as “private citizens”.  Marrella and MA SD Michael Baldner got awards from Bishop Arthur Kennedy, Rector of St. John’s Seminary, Brighton, MA, on 4/Dec/2010.  Fr. Bob Kickham, a Secretary to Cardinal Sean O’Malley, is the Associate K of C Chaplain. YouTube.com/user/RealCatholicTV?feature=mhee#p/u/0/ZZduFsbwN84

Bishops - like toothless tigers - fail to excommunicate Pro-Abortion/Pro-Homosexual pols and are silent on the many K of C failures. Supreme Chaplain Bishop William Lori of Bridgeport, CT shamefully exploited Pope Benedict XVI’s declaration of Fr. Michael J. McGivney as Venerable, to be "a ringing affirmation of the Order he founded" (Columbia, May 2008).

K of C Cardinal Sean O’Malley (ArchbishopSean@RCAB.org) gave away his 6 Caritas Christi hospitals to Cerberus/Steward on 8/Nov/10 (CaritasChristi.org).  The Catholic identity can be abandoned for a $25 million donation to a charity of his choosing (The Pilot, 14/May/10).  On 1/Jul/09 he put the 6 hospitals in a state-subsidized CeltiCare plan making abortion referrals to Planned Parenthood, the USA's #1 abortionists - 329,445 in 2010 - funded with $487 million of your taxes. http://issuu.com/actionfund/docs/ppfa_financials_2010_122711_web_vf?mode=window&viewMode=doublePage

Cardinal O’Malley gave Pro-Abortion/Pro-Gay Sen. Ted Kennedy a hero's funeral on 29/Aug/09.  He allowed a Gay Mass at St. Cecilia Church on 10/Jul/11 (StCeciliaBoston.org), and advertised “HOLY WEEK 2010” in Bay Windows, New England’s largest Gay (GLBT) paper.  Cardinal O’Malley gave NO money to the Catholic Church campaign which helped overturn Gay Marriage in Maine in ’09.

Cardinal O’Malley wasn’t among the 83 US bishops who protested President Barack Obama as Notre Dame’s Commencement Speaker/Awardee in 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com).  In Dec 2005, he allowed Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Boston to give an award to Boston Mayor Tom Menino, a Pro-Abortion Catholic who attends the Gay Pride Parade every June.  Fr. Walter Cuenin, K of C, promoted the parade. Boston City Councilors Michael Flaherty & John Tobin, both K of C, marched. The Faithful Departed by Phil Lawler gives much insight into the corruption & going-out-of business sale in Boston.

Emilio Moure sabotaged a California K of C resolution to suspend Pro-Abortion politicians (CalCatholic.com).  While CA State Deputy he was promoted to Supreme Director, later to Supreme Treasurer, and on 1/Sep/10, Supreme Secretary ($260,913/yr)!  He died on 23/Jul/11. Pray for his soul.

Ray Flynn, former Boston Mayor, former Ambassador to the Vatican, endorsed Pro-Abortion/Pro-Gay Hillary Clinton in the Democratic presidential primary (Boston Herald 6/Feb/08), then went to work in her campaign!  He is a member of Council 271 in S. Boston, which has a Masonic “Friendship Stone” at the front door!  Ray Flynn signed an Open Letter in ’11 praising Mitt Romney.

Paul Devin, K of C Supreme Advocate, who gave money to Pro-Abortion pols Ted & Joe Kennedy (OpenSecrets.org), ruled a MA K of C State Convention resolution by GK/FDD Joe Craven to suspend Pro-Abortion/Pro-Gay pols to be “unconstitutional” (4/May/08).  Disgraced, Devin retired Feb ’09.

Joe Reilly, K of C, President of Massachusetts Citizens For Life (MCFL) (2006-2007) & his wife Evelyn, - a lobbyist for Mass Family Institute (MFI) - tried to remove me as a MCFL Director in ’07 because I exposed Pro-Abortion K of C pols!  Joe Reilly signed the ’07 and ’11 Open Letters supporting Mitt Romney, who introduced Gay Marriage in 2004. MCFL is a state affiliate of National Right to Life.

EWTN, March for Life, & Sisters of Life betray unborn children when they give prominence to K of C leaders who welcome Pro-Abortion/Pro-Homosexual pols in exchange for tax exemption.

Rodney Shropshire, K of C General Agent, often showed great hostility towards my Pro-Life work.  He moved me to a small, poor territory (I was in the top third as an Insurance Field Agent: Lancer E. Division Report, y-t-d June ’99).  In Jan 2000, Rodney Shropshire terminated my contract as a “failure”.

Tom Smith, VP Agencies, ($419,504/yr), countersigned Shropshire’s lie.  Supreme Knights Virgil Dechant and Carl Anderson didn’t answer my letters.  Supreme Treasurer Deacon Ken Ryan ($208,181/yr) wrote lies about me, then claimed that his signed letter on his headed paper wasn't his!

Tom Ledbetter, MA SD 2001-04, suspended my membership on 18/Jun/2004 for Scandal, Slander and Publishing Detrimental Matter - without producing any evidence!  My appeal was rejected as “late” by Supreme Advocate Paul Devin ($387,130/yr), and later by the Supreme Board of Dirs. at a show trial held without my knowledge. All lied. My suspension is still in force - showing SK Anderson’s hostility!

The Vatican fails to supervise the K of C.  Please write to His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI, Apostolic Palace, 00120 Vatican City.  Advise him of the situation.  E-mail: Vatican Press Office: AV@pccs.VA  and Carl.Anderson@KOFC.org  PH: Supreme Knight Carl Anderson 800-380-9995, FAX 203-752-4118.  Please copy me at: LifeJohn@AOL.com

____________________________________________________________________________________

Mr. Anderson: The K of C Charter Constitution and Laws, and State/Supreme Convention resolutions, are defied by the refusal to suspend/expel Pro-Abortion/Pro-Gay pols & members - 53 million surgical abortions since Roe v. Wade in 1973 (chemical abortions extra) - and by the failure to require that all K of C Hall Rental Agreements prevent Gay Weddings, NARAL & Witch events etc. being booked.

You, Virgil Dechant, John Marrella and all the Supreme Directors must resign now! K of C members and all Pro-Lifers must insist on these resignations, and should require a vow to protect Unborn Children as a condition of K of C membership. The Order, with $16 billion in assets, should forgive “ChurchLoans” of “nearly $100 million”, lent at 5.5% interest, and help needy dioceses and Pro-Life groups.

PRESIDENT JOHN F. KENNEDY - A CELEBRATED KNIGHT OF COLUMBUS

As Democratic Presidential Candidate, Senator John F. Kennedy, K of C, addressed the Greater Houston Ministerial Assoc. on 12/Sep/1960.  JFK, pro-contraceptives, said he would not take directions from the Catholic Church. He opposed any public funding of church schools and opposed establishing diplomatic relations with the Vatican (established by Pres. Ronald Reagan in 1984) JFKLibrary.org

SENATOR EDWARD M. KENNEDY

Pro-Abortion Senator Ted Kennedy had a 4% NRLC voting record from 1997 to 2008. New England’s largest Gay (GLBT) paper reported: “If there ever is a gay Mount Rushmore, Ted Kennedy needs to be chiseled in that stone” (BayWindows.com 26/Aug/09). Cardinal Sean O’Malley lauded Kennedy at his funeral Mass in the Basilica of Our Lady of Perpetual Help - the Redemptorist “Mission Church” (CatholicActionLeague.org  29/Aug/09), and President Obama promoted lesbianism from the lectern!

PRO-ABORTION JOHN GARVEY, PRESIDENT OF CATHOLIC UNIV. OF AMERICA

John H. Garvey became CUA President on 1/Jul/10.  He is a correspondent for Catholic News Service (CNS). Garvey, Dean of Boston College Law School (Jesuit) (1999-2010), donated to Pro-Abortion Sen John Kerry 3 times - a total of $1,750.  He featured Pro-Abortion Commencement Speakers: U.S. Sen Scott Brown (R) in ’10; U.S. Rep Ed Markey in ’07; Ambassador to Canada Paul Cellucci (MA Gov. ’97-’01) (R) in ’02; and Supreme Judicial Court (SJC of MA) Chief Justice Margaret Marshall in ’01.

John Garvey paid tribute to the late Fr. Robert Drinan, S.J., conveniently omitting the Jesuit priest’s 10 years as a Pro-Abortion U.S. Rep (1971-1981). Fr. Drinan eventually stood down on the order of Pope John Paul II, and was succeeded by a supporter, Barney Frank, Pro-Abortion, who declared himself Gay in 1987. CUA received $2.1 million from the K of C in 2009.      K of C Supreme Knight Carl Anderson is a Trustee of CUA! BC.Edu/Schools/Law/alumni/ebrief/features/Winter06/feature2.html
