"After much thought and discussion, I have decided I will not seek a full term as New Hampshire Republican Party Chairman. Serving as Chairman has been a challenge and a privilege. I appreciate the hard work of the dedicated activists, Party officers, and staff over the past year. It's been an honor to serve in this capacity."

The New Hampshire Republican State Committee will elect Party officers, including a new chairman, at its Annual Meeting on January 26th. MacDonald will not be endorsing a candidate for chairman.

NH House Speaker Statement on Chairman MacDonald Stepping Down

CONCORD – House Speaker William O’Brien (R-Mont Vernon) today offered the following statement regarding the news the New Hampshire Republican State Committee Chairman Wayne MacDonald would not seek another term.

House Speaker William O’Brien

“I would like to offer my wholehearted support for Wayne MacDonald for his willingness to step up under very difficult circumstances and provide leadership for the Party.  His steady hand allowed the State Committee to move forward over the past year and have a smooth First In The Nation primary and to implement the national Victory efforts.  I know I speak for many Republicans when I wish Wayne the best of luck in his future endeavors.”

NHGOP CHAIRMAN MACDONALD RESPONDS TO DEMS' PHONY RHETORIC

Just Like Hassan and Cilley, Norelli Wants To Force N.H. Toward An Income Tax

Concord, NH- New Hampshire Republican State Committee Chairman Wayne MacDonald released the following statement today in response to House Minority Leader Terie Norelli's press conference.

“Minority Leader Terie Norelli’s phony rhetoric shows that she’s forgotten about the mess her party created in Concord – tax hikes, spending increases and massive government growth that hurt job creation.  In November, voters won’t forget about Norelli’s reckless policies because today, as a result of our Republican legislature, New Hampshire’s economy is improving and the GOP is cleaning up the mess Democrats left behind.  Voters have seen that responsible leadership focused on fiscal discipline, honest budgeting and job creation is what’s best for New Hampshire.

“What Maggie Hassan, Jackie Cilley and Norelli won’t tell you is that they want to spend more of your tax dollars not only to grow the size of government, but also as a way to force New Hampshire into an income tax.  Republicans won’t stand for it, and that’s why we are well positioned to take back the governor’s office and maintain our majorities in the legislature.”

NH GOP - FOURTH OF JULY MESSAGE FROM CHAIRMAN MACDONALD

Concord, NH- New Hampshire Republican State Committee Chairman Wayne MacDonald released the following statement commemorating the Fourth of July.

"On this day in 1776 the founders of our nation bravely convened in Philadelphia, risking their 'lives, fortunes, and sacred honor,' to sign the Declaration of Independence that would create a nation based on its citizens' individual rights, liberties, and prosperity.

“As we gather with friends and family, let us remember and honor our military service men and women who are fighting everyday to protect those freedoms that we cherish so much. May we always be wary of their sacrifice.”

Shaheen Plans To Skip Vote, But Has No Plans To Change Her Big Spending Ways

Supports Higher Taxes, More Spending in Obama’s Stimulus 2.0

New Hampshire Republican State Committee Chairman Wayne MacDonald today released the following statement after Senator Jeanne Shaheen announced her support for President Barack Obama’s Stimulus 2.0 and her intention to only attend the actual vote, “if her vote is needed for passage.” (See quote in The Hill by clicking here.)

“It’s surprising that Senator Shaheen is skipping tonight’s vote, but the real surprise is that she supports President Obama’s second stimulus, even though we know that the original trillion-dollar plan failed to turn the economy around as promised. As many of her Senate Democrat colleagues plan to oppose the White House’s latest spending proposal, Senator Shaheen is once again showing New Hampshire voters just how loyal she is to President Obama and her Washington leaders.

"Granite Staters are frustrated with our nation’s massive debt, which is hurting our economy, yet Senator Shaheen continues to go along with her party bosses’ plans for more spending and bigger government. Shaheen doesn’t seem to understand that a rubberstamp for President Obama is not a voice for New Hampshire voters."

Background Information:

“President Barack Obama’s jobs plan is at risk of getting less than 51 votes Tuesday evening in the Senate as a handful of politically vulnerable moderates hold out on the president’s signature economic proposal. Adding to the uncertainty, Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.) who supports the proposal, may be a no-show due to a scheduling conflict, potentially leaving Democrats short of the symbolic simple majority on the jobs bill.” (Manu Raju and Scott Wong, “Obama Jobs Bill May Not Get 51 In Senate,” Politico, 10/11/2011)

Tory Mazzola Named NHGOP Executive Director

John DiStaso reported on the newest addition to the NHGOP staff:

THE NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR. New Republican State Committee Chair Wayne MacDonald appears to have landed a top-notch executive director in Tory Mazzola of Fremont.

Mazzola, 31, a UNH graduate with family in Kensington and Gilford, moved to New Hampshire three years ago from Washington, where he had spent about eight years either on Capitol Hill or in the private sector.

For the past two years, Mazzola was regional press secretary for the National Republican Congressional Committee, handling media in congressional races from Ohio to Virginia to Maine.

Mazzola, who will formally begin his new post in Concord in mid-November, said the Republicans picked up 19 House seats in the 2010 mid-term election in his region, including six in New York, five in Pennsylvania, five in Ohio, one in New Jersey and, of course, Frank Guinta and Charlie Bass in New Hampshire.
