Concord - New Hampshire Republican State Committee Chairman Jennifer Horn released the following statement today on the passing of Republican activist and former State Representative Richard "Stretch" Kennedy.

 

"Stretch was a tireless advocate for conservative principles and a fierce defender of our Second Amendment rights. He was a caring individual who was beloved by Republican activists across New Hampshire because of his colorful and one-of-a-kind personality.

 

"Bill and are deeply sadden by Stretch's passing and ask that people keep him and his family in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time."

CONCORD, NH - Karen Testerman, Republican candidate for the United States Senate, offered condolences to family and friends of Richard Kennedy.

"Stretch severed the state with passion as a legislator," Testerman said. "New Hampshire lost a great patriot and friend. Stretch was outspoken, but he had a heart of gold and was a big teddy bear under the surface. He was not only generous, but he was also a lovable character.

"I and many, many others will miss Stretch."

“The passing of Councilor Ray Burton is a tremendous loss to the people of the North Country and to the entire Granite State, which he deeply loved. Having worked with Ray for many years, I know first hand his unwavering dedication to the people of his district and New Hampshire, which are better places because of his service. Ray exemplified what a politician should be and truly put the people he represented above politics. A hole has been left in the North Country that can never truly be filled. Ray is one who is simply irreplaceable, and he will be profoundly missed by all.

Hampton Falls – Former New Hampshire Governor John H. Sununu issued the following statement today on the passing of Executive Councilor Ray Burton:

"I am truly sorry that New Hampshire has lost a great public servant and I am deeply saddened to have lost a good friend. Ray Burton spent nearly forty years working for the North Country, and his service stands as the model of what makes our state great. Ray was always there to serve his constituents and he never let them down.

"Ray’s passing is an enormous loss for New Hampshire, and he will never be replaced. Nancy and I extend our sympathies to his family and ask all Granite Staters to keep them in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time."

For nearly forty years, he set the gold standard for public service in our state, and inspired generations of Granite Staters to give back to their communities and help others.

 

"I am personally saddened by this loss. Ray was a good man, a steady mentor and an example of humility in service for all of us. I will never forget the lessons learned from him and the friendship we shared. 

 

"New Hampshire has lost a legend who can never be replaced. Our state is a better place as a result of Ray's service and accomplishments, and his memory will live on for years to come. My thoughts and prayers are with Ray's family during this difficult time."
