Also on the call will be AFP VP Policy Phil Kerpen, who wrote on NRO today:

With the odds stacked against Boeing and other employers, it’s up to Congress to step in. Fortunately, Congress is expected to vote as soon as this week on H.R. 2587, the Protecting Jobs from Government Interference Act. The bill, sponsored by Rep. Tim Scott (R., S.C.), would prevent the NLRB from ordering any employer to close, relocate, or transfer employment, protecting businesses from overreach by the agency.

Yes, it has actually come to this in America. We need legislation to confirm that employers can decide where to conduct business.

NH Suicide Prevention Council Reports New Successful Programming

Positive Responses to Negative News

Concord, NH – Suicide continues to be a very serious issue in New

Hampshire; it is the second leading cause of death in New Hampshire for

youth and young adults ages 15 – 34 and the fourth leading cause of death

from ages 35 – 54. As budgets are reduced and services cut, this issue

continues to be a critical concern in New Hampshire. However, the New

Hampshire Suicide Prevention Council is announcing on Monday positive

collaborative efforts happening in the State aimed at reducing the number

of deaths by suicide. The State is working with community, public, private,

and State partners to address this issue. The Council also collaborates

with the veteran community, as one fifth of all suicides nationally are

veterans, and members of the NH National Guard are returning this fall from

the largest deployment in its history since World War II.

This is an opportunity to hear about work such as engaging gun shop owners

in suicide prevention as well as the role that emergency response

clinicians play in community mental health centers. Also, learn about one

local coalition who gathered together for positive change after several

horrific losses.

Speakers for this event include:

Dr. Thomas Andrew, NH Chief Medical Examiner

Peter Whelley, Moultonborough Mental Health & Suicide Prevention Coalition

Tom Brown, NH Firearm Safety Coalition

Susan Morrison, Survivor of Suicide Loss
