Huntsman for President - What They Are Saying... About Huntsman's Consistently Conservative Record And Solutions

The Washington Post’s George Will On Gov. Huntsman: “His Program Is The Most Conservative.” (George F. Will, Op-Ed, “Romney And Gingrich, From Bad To Worse,” The Washington Post, 12/2/11)

  • Will: “You Could Make A Case That He Deserves A Searching Second Look From Conservatives.” WILL: “I think if you look at Jon Huntsman's record, what he's laid out, his proposals for taxes and the economy, his opposition to No Child Left Behind, you could make a case that he deserves a searching second look from conservatives. Huntsman's position on foreign policy is the most conservative. That is, it is the most modest in assessing the need and ability of the United States to control distant events.” (“The Laura Ingraham Show,” 12/2/11)

RedState’s Erick Erickson: “[Gov. Huntsman’s] Record As A Governor Is More Conservative Than Newt Gingrich And Mitt Romney Combined.” “His record as a Governor is more conservative than Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney combined. He is more pro-life than either of them. He is more economically wedded to the free market than either of them. He has better foreign policy experience than either of them. Huntsman should be a conservative hero in this race.” (Erick Erickson, “The Horserace For December 1, 2011,” RedState, 12/1/11)

Financial Times: “In Fact, Mr Huntsman Has Impeccable Conservative Credentials.” “In fact, Mr Huntsman has impeccable conservative credentials. More so than his rivals, Mr. Huntsman has stood up for free trade and called for constructive engagement with China. He also wants to simplify the US tax code, reduce rates and eliminate double taxation by scrapping tax on dividends and capital gains. (Editorial, “Republican Realist,” Financial Times, 12/5/11)

American Enterprise Institute’s James Pethokoukis: “[T]he policies Huntsman advocates, if implemented, would usher in a conservative, free-market, small-government revolution that no Tea Party member could help but applaud. No Thatcherite or Reaganite, either.” (James Pethokoukis, “The Case For Jon Huntsman’s Conservatism,” American Enterprise Institute’s Enterprise Blog, 12/4/11)

The New York Times’ Ross Douthat: “Huntsman Has None Of Romney’s Health Care Baggage … He Has Arguably Been More Consistently Conservative Than Gingrich.” “Huntsman has none of Romney’s health care baggage, and unlike the former Massachusetts governor, he didn’t spend the last decade flip-flopping on gun rights, immigration and abortion. Meanwhile, on many of the highest-profile issues of the primary season (the individual mandate, Paul Ryan’s House budget, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac), he has arguably been more consistently conservative than Gingrich.” (Ross Douthat, “The Huntsman Handicap,” New York Times’ Campaign Stop Blog , 11/29/11)

Business Insider’s Michael Brendan Dougherty : “On Almost Any Issues, Huntsman Has Been More Consistently Conservative Than Either Romney Or Gingrich.” (Michael Brendan Dougherty, “Conservatives Discover An Inconvenient Truth About Jon Huntsman,” Business Insider, 12/5/11)

AFPNH - Help us Defend the American Dream in Washington, DC!

Dear Robert

First, I hope you will attend the Defending the American Dream Summit in Washington, D.C. this November 4-5! I have personally attended this event, sponsored by Americans for Prosperity Foundation, for the last four years. It is a great opportunity to gather with other conservative activists and hear from leading public policy makers on the most important issues of our day. I am sure this year will be no exception.

This year’s speakers include Mark Levin, Herman Cain, John Fund, Andrew Breitbart, Jonah Goldberg, Ken Cuccinelli, Ann McElhinney, and Grover Norquist.

Information on general registration can be found by clicking here.

Additionally, a bus of fellow activists from Maine will be making a stop in Portsmouth, N.H. en route to D.C. Please click here  for more information on that travel option.

We want to make this trip as easy as possible for you. If you need additional information or have questions that are not answered in the links above, please feel free to email either myself or Joy King and we will be happy to help.

Secondly, a final reminder that tomorrow, October 13, I will be part of a panel discussion moderated by the Washington Post’s Jonathan Capehart entitled, “Solving our Fiscal Crisis: What’s Wrong with Washington?” at the NHIOP at St. Anselm College in Manchester from 2:30PM to 5:00PM.

The event will also include remarks from several presidential candidates including Governor Buddy Roemer and Governor Jon Huntsman.

Please click here for more details or send an email to RSVP@ACRreform.org to RSVP!

Third, with all the presidential candidates literally and figuratively in our backyards, it can be easy to lose sight of the issues going on here in New Hampshire. Here are a couple of items you should be aware of.

The New Hampshire House Ways and Means Committee is currently reviewing HB 593, which could provide additional opportunities to lower taxes on businesses in our state.

As you have probably read, Massachusetts is very close to passing similar legislation in their state. While this issue has been raised in New Hampshire before, Massachusetts’ serious consideration places our own legislators in a position where they must carefully consider how best to implement potential revenue sources in our state. We hope the legislature will do everything possible to maintain the business friendly environment for which New Hampshire is known.

Additionally, public hearings will be held in each county next month on the subject of redistricting. This redistricting process will determine the districts for New Hampshire’s House, Executive Council, County Commissioners, and two Congressional Districts. I encourage you to attend if possible.

These two issues will have a significant impact on our state in both the short and long-term.  We will continue to monitor these and other issues and keep you informed.

Finally, we appreciate your support of our efforts here in New Hampshire and hope you will consider clicking here to make a donation today.

Sincerely,

Corey R. Lewandowski

NH House Leaders Congratulate Rep. Garcia for Joining National Campaign Promoting Conservative Values to Hispanic Voters

CONCORD – House Speaker William O’Brien (R-Mont Vernon) and House Majority Leader D.J. Bettencourt (R-Salem) today congratulated Rep. Marilinda Garcia (R-Salem) for her participation in a national campaign by GOPAC to encourage Hispanic voters to support conservative values for national Hispanic Heritage Month.  The effort includes a national advertizing campaign that includes Rep. Garcia that is available online at www.weareconservative.org.

Rep. Garcia is in her 3rd term representing the towns of Salem and Windham.  She is the co-chair of the House Republican Alliance and serves on the House Finance and Legislative Administration committees.  She was recently named among the “40 Under Forty” for those individuals under 40 years old who are making a difference in the community and was identified as a “Rising Star” by the New Hampshire Union Leader.

House Speaker William O’Brien

“Rep. Garcia is a leading voice for conservative values in the House and is an active leader in shaping the policies that have brought New Hampshire back from the financial brink.  She is an ideal choice to reach out to Hispanics nationally to remind them of the importance of limited government, lower taxes and creating an environment for jobs to flourish.  New Hampshire Republicans are proud that Rep. Garcia is participating in this conversation with Hispanic voters.”

House Majority Leader D.J. Bettencourt

“As a fellow Salem resident and close friend of Marilinda, I’m thrilled to see her leading efforts to share Republican ideals with Hispanics nationally.  This is a great opportunity for both her and the Party to grow support among groups whose values are consistent with Republicans about growing our economy, rewarding hard work and taking personal responsibility.  Salem is very proud of her efforts.”

Former McCain chairman explains why he lobbied for Governor Palin as vice president

"Sarah Palin Out of Nowhere" by Frank A. Aquila attempts to be a handbook to assist conservatives in their fight against what he feels is the liberal direction of America

MANTECA, Calif. (MMD Newswire) September 20, 2011 - - When Frank A. Aquila started the political grassroots organization South San Joaquin Republicans, he didn't expect to become the county chairman for Senator John McCain's 2008 political run. His new position put him in contact with several political powerhouses and allowed him to lobby for Governor Sarah Palin to be on the 2008 presidential ticket. Aquila details why he lobbied for the famed politician, the concern he has for America and his hopes for the future of America in "Sarah Palin Out of Nowhere" (ISBN 1463640390).

Aquila, a major supporter of Palin on the presidential ticket, shares his unedited correspondence with the McCain campaign before it was announced that Palin would be his running mate. Aquila explains how she lit up the presidential ticket with her qualities that he compares to former President Ronald Reagan.

The author doesn't ignore the Palin backlash, but rather approaches it head on, and explains why the media has been so hostile to Governor Palin and other conservatives. He compares and contrasts the media's perception of Palin versus President Barack Obama. Aquila analyzes Obama's plans for the future, while explaining Palin's and the Tea Party's hopes for small government that American's founding fathers established centuries ago.

"I interject my own thoughts on hot topics affecting America in various letters throughout the work," Aquila says. "I share my predictions for the 2012 election, and what I think will be best for this country's future. Some readers will agree with me, others will not, but my goal is to provide an accurate depiction of Governor Palin."

Author and journalist Joan Swirsky states, "Aquila's efforts helped catapult an amazing but relatively unknown political figure onto the national and international stage, and introduced the entire world to perhaps the most exciting political figure to come along in generations. Aquila wants everyone who reads his book to know that every person can do the same."

Aquila believes that "Sarah Palin Out of Nowhere" has the information and tools necessary to inform conservatives how to fight back against the liberal media. He hopes that his expose of President Obama and his plans for America inspires readers to think further about their decisions for future elections.

"Sarah Palin Out of Nowhere" is available for sale online at Amazon.com and other channels.

About the Author:
Frank A. Aquila currently serves as the president of the South San Joaquin Republicans, an organization he founded to network area conservatives to get involved in the political process and meet their area representatives. Through this organization, he met former President George W. Bush and has had the opportunity to moderate congressional forums and organize an event for Gold Star military families. He also served as the California delegate for the Republican Party for his county through which he became the San Joaquin County chairman of Senator John McCain's presidential run in 2008.

I am pleased to announce that we have several AFP-NH events coming up this summer.

First, on Friday, July 29 I hope you will join me for an AFP Foundation-NH sponsored “Legacy of Freedom” breakfast to celebrate Milton Friedman Day. The breakfast, which begins at 8:30 AM at Richard’s Bistro in Manchester, is being hosted by the Foundation for Educational Choice and the Friedman Legacy for Freedom. This is one of many such events being held across the country on this day to honor and remember Mr. Friedman’s vision and impact on American economics.

Second, the weekend of August 20 will be busy for AFP-NH. Please consider spending a portion of your weekend with us as we first host a fundraising event being put together in Hollis on Saturday the 20th and then move to the Lakes Region for a reception with several presidential candidates and state legislators on Sunday the 21st. Specifics on both events will be finalized and announced soon!

Next, I wanted to let you know that our national sister organization, Americans for Prosperity Foundation is hosting an exciting event in Washington, D.C. this November. The Defending the American Dream Summit will take place November 4-5, 2011 at the Washington D.C. Convention Center and include a tribute dinner to President Reagan, grassroots training and remarks from some of the country’s leading conservatives. Please click here to register for this can’t-miss event!

Fourth, several organizations have contacted me recently with opportunities for me to speak at their regular meetings. I am always happy to accept these invitations that allow me to engage with other activists and hope to do this more often. To that end, over the next several weeks Joy from my office will be contacting groups across the state to discuss the possibility of me addressing one of their group’s upcoming meetings. If you would like to schedule a speaking arrangement prior to hearing from her, please visit the Speaking Request Program page on our website which includes information on potential topics of interest as well as Joy’s contact information.

Finally, I am including our ever-growing Granite State Gatherings section.  If you would like to have your event added to our listing, please contact Joy with the details at joymlutes@yahoo.com.
