Human Events - Though standing up to liberal Hollywood and TV bullies seems like an impossible task, Sarah Palin's stand against David Letterman should give all social conservatives hope that they can do so...and win. [Find the Story at News From The Front]

CHQ - Channeling "Common Sense"

Viguerie Blog - Last week marked the 200th anniversary of the death of Thomas Paine, author of the Revolutionary-era pamphlet "Common Sense." Though brief as it was, Paine's clear and articulated arguments against the tyranny of King George would echo through the colonies and inspire Americans to rise up against the British Empire. It is times like these that remind us of the need for a voice like Paine's; one that can once again reignite the flames of liberty and revolution in the hearts of Americans tired of an unbearable government. Heritage - Tea Party Tuesday

As we countdown to the tea parties being organized all over America on the 4th of July, we hope to see this positive momentum have a lasting impact in communities and states across our nation. Whether you are organizing a tea party or working with another community based organization, we want to help you build a toolkit of practical guides as well as provide links to conservative ideas.

Starting last week, and for the next three Tuesdays, we will be producing a series called “Tea Party Tuesday” on our InsiderOnline website.

Here are links to and excerpts from the first two posts:

Tea Party Tuesday: How to Plan an Event (6-16-09)

If you are planning an event, we recommend John Hilboldt’s “So You Want to Hold a Public Event?” from the Summer/Fall 2006 issue of The Insider. Hilboldt, director of lectures and seminars at The Heritage Foundation, identifies the questions you need to ask yourself before you can pull off a great event.

Health care talking point: Government-run health plans always cost more than what they are originally projected to cost. President Obama’s health care agenda—an agenda of more taxes, spending, mandates, and regulations—is currently projected to have a 10-year cost of between $1 trillion and $1.5 trillion.

Tea Party Tuesday: Fighting Waste in Local Government (6-9-09)

In “How to Form a State or Local Taxpayer Group,” published in the Winter 2009 issue of The Insider, Kristina Rasmussen and Pete Sepp provide a step-by step-guide to forming a taxpayer group, from announcing the group, to scheduling the meetings, to dividing up responsibilities, to promoting your group’s work, to setting priorities.

In “How to Reduce Property Taxes with a Citizens Audit Committee” recently published by Connecticut’s Yankee Institute, Armand Fusco and Lewis Andrews explain how a citizens audit committee can be created to scrutinize the spending of local governments and school districts.

If you have an item you would like to share with Tea Party Tuesday, just send an e-mail to insider@heritage.org with “For Tea Party Tuesday” in the subject line. Or, you can contact me directly.

Also, be sure to checkout www.StopEPAAgain.com. We are collecting comments on the EPA proposal which could place dramatic regulations on energy use in this country and would result in escalating energy costs for your family as well as job losses across our economy. The deadline for comments opposing this new regulation is JUNE 23rd. It will take you less than two minutes to submit a comment. Please do so today.
