Nat. Conservative Campaign Fund - No More Money for Phony Republicans!

Below please find a special message from our sponsor, National Conservative Campaign Fund. From time to time, we receive opportunities we believe you as a valued customer may want to know about. Please note that the following message does not necessarily reflect the editorial positions of Human Events.

###

Dear Friend:

I'm Erick Erickson, editor-in-chief of Red.State.com, an Eagle Publishing division. I hope you'll take a moment to read my message and take action.

The Republican Party establishment is making it clear that conservatives should give them money and then shut up.

Remember in 2006, when the GOP establishment spent millions to help Republican-in-name-only Sen. Lincoln Chafee (RI) turn back his conservative primary challenger – only to have Chafee lose in the fall (and then, like Arlen Specter, abandon the Republican Party)?

Don't forget last year, when the National Republican Congressional Committee canceled critically needed ad buys on behalf of some of the best conservatives in Congress, such as Reps. Tom Feeney (FL) and Marilyn Musgrave (CO), possibly costing them re-election.

And this year, the Republican Party gave Arlen Specter its full-throated support against conservative Pat Toomey until Specter jumped ship. Then, instead of supporting Toomey, the Republican party ran out to find a Specter clone – ignoring the conservative.

Friends, the Republican establishment's favoritism toward liberal candidates continues.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee just officially endorsed tax-hiking, affirmative action-loving liberal Florida Gov. Charlie Crist over conservative rising star Marco Rubio. Meanwhile, rumors are flying that the NRSC might soon do likewise in several other states.

I am sick and tired of the GOP taking my money and telling me to shut up while they spend my money on pro-abortion, big-spending tax hikers.

That's why I am giving to the National Conservative Campaign Fund (NCCF). I know my money will go to help elect real conservatives all across America. NCCF would never waste money on the likes of turncoats such as Chafee and Specter, or Charlie Crist.

Let's stop putting good money after bad. Let's support an organization that will back conservative candidates 100% of the time. Please send whatever you can afford to NCCF right now. I hope you'll be generous, but even a small amount helps. If we have any chance to stop the Obama-Pelosi-Reid march to socialism, it'll be when conservatives who value freedom and free markets over government "solutions" get elected to the House and Senate and fight back. NCCF is one group you can count on to help make it happen..

Thanks,

Erick Erickson

ALG's Wilson, Former Attorney General Edwin Meese, and National Leaders Call Upon House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to Step Down

"Pelosi, number two in line to succeed the Presidency,

has completely destroyed her credibility with the intelligence

community, and on intelligence-issues central to protecting

the security of the United States." —ALG President Bill Wilson.

May 25th, 2009, Fairfax, VA—Americans for Limited Government President Bill Wilson, former Attorney General Edwin Meese and ten other national leaders have called for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to step down for "endangering the national security of the United States" amid escalating controversy over her claims intelligence officials lied to her about enhanced interrogation techniques.

According to the letter, "Speaker Pelosi has chosen to politicize the CIA and to demoralize its employees in order to take one more parting shot at the Bush administration, and to try to distract the public from her potentially career-ending exercise of bad judgment. By politicizing the intelligence community, Speaker Pelosi is reviving one of Washington's most tired and ugly old ways."

The controversy began when Pelosi said on April 23rd in reference to a 2002 intelligence briefing that "At that or any other briefing... we were not, I repeat, were not told that waterboarding or any of these other enhanced interrogation techniques were used."

On May 6th, the controversy grew as an intelligence report was released on stating that Pelosi was indeed briefed on the techniques that were used on terrorist suspect Abu Zubaydah in September 2002, as reported by ABC News.

On May 14th, it only grew as she accused the CIA of lying to her: "Those briefing me in Sept. 2002 gave me inaccurate and incomplete information... The CIA was misleading the Congress."

The CIA Director, Leon Panetta—appointed by Democrat Barack Obama—defended his agency, saying, "It is not our policy to mislead Congress. That is against our laws and our values."

Wilson, Meese, and other national leaders in their letter wrote that "The national security of the United States is more important than politics."

Wilson explained, "If it comes down to Pelosi keeping a powerful political position or protecting the security of the nation, security comes first, and Pelosi has to go."

"Pelosi, number two in line to succeed the Presidency, has completely destroyed her credibility with the intelligence community, and on intelligence-issues central to protecting the security of the United States," Wilson declared.

"And anyone who cannot be trusted to protect the security of the nation has no place in a leadership position in any branch or office of our representative government," Wilson concluded.

Editor's Note: The letter's signatories are:

Edwin Meese, former Attorney General

David Keene, Chairmain, American Conservative Union

Frank J. Gaffney, President, Center for Security Policy

Daily Grind: California Vote—A Time for Total Recall

ALG Editor's Note: Yesterday, the Obama Administration backed off its threat to withhold $6.8 billion in supplemental Medicaid funds at the behest of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) if California did not rescind a $74 million in pay cuts to home health care workers. Last week, ALG News and other media had called for Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius to uphold the principle of federalism, and to rescind the ultimatum. This is an important win for the people of the U.S. The concept of federalism has been upheld and the insider payoff to a ruthless leftwing union blocked.

Editorial: California Vote—A Time for Total Recall
It is time for Arnold Schwarzenegger to return to his roots and force the state legislature to finally shrink California government, once and for all—and put an end to the failed borrow and spend formula.

Harmful Implications from Cap and Trade
Rep. Denny Rehberg explains why "cap and trade" is anything but "cap and cash back."
