CHQ - Watch and hear Richard Viguerie on Scarborough, Friday, May 15

Dear friend,

I'll be discussing the current Republican Party and why conservatives should no longer look to GOP politicians for leadership. Instead, we in the conservative movement must lead the opposition to President Obama and Pelosi Democrats.

We have a party and a country to save, and the GOP establishment is in our way.

Watch: Morning Joe, MSNBC; 7:45 a.m. on Friday, May 15

Listen: The Joe Scarborough Show, ABC Radio Network; 10:35 a.m. on Friday, May 15

Cordially,

Richard A. Viguerie

CHQ - Remember to take our poll about Obama!

Have you voted yet in our poll where we're taking the temperature of conservatives (and others) as to where they see Obama on the political scale?

If you've already cast your vote, let your friends know about it so their views can also be included in the final totals. In a few days, we'll be sending the results to the national, state, and local media. [vote here now]

The balloting so far has been surprising--even fascinating--as to whether Obama is a:

Liberal

Socialist

Marxist

Fascist

Communist

6 other choices

Be sure you and your friends express your views by VOTING HERE.

If you haven't read my new article in the Washington Times, where I urge you and other conservatives to ignore Republican politicians and become the main opponents of Obama and the Pelosi Democrats, please CLICK HERE.

Your comments on the article are very welcome in my blog HERE.

CHQ - My article in the Washington Times, ''We Should Cease Looking to Republicans''

The Washington Times published today an op-ed article written by me, "Conservative-led opposition needed," which states in part:

Republican politicians have failed conservatives, the GOP itself and America. We're heading down the tracks to socialism or worse, with the GOP as caboose. . .

Sadly, too many conservative leaders either blindly supported former President George W. Bush, Karl Rove, and congressional Republicans or were silent as big-government politicians abandoned conservative principles and massively expanded government. . .

We have a party and a country to save, and the Republican establishment is part of the problem, not the solution. Conservatives must not wait for orders from headquarters: Rush to the sound of the guns. . .

Leadership starts with each of us. We should cease looking to Republican politicians for leadership. . .

CHQ - GOP Needs New Management, but Old Principles

I thought you might like to read my article on the future direction of the Republican Party, which appeared in the Los Angeles Times on Sunday, May 10.

In the article, I wrote:

Two major debates face conservative Republicans about the future of the party. The first, rekindled by Sen. Arlen Specter's party switch, is whether the GOP should move further leftward. The second is whether conservatives should tone down their advocacy on social issues. History is on the side of outspoken conservatives in both debates. . .

Republicans can try smoke and mirrors, but they really need new leaders who will reverse the big-government policies of Bush 43 and congressional Republicans, and actually articulate and move a conservative agenda forward. . .

Conservatives should no longer look to Republican politicians for leadership, and should assume the role of leading the opposition to Obama and the Democrats. We believe we have a party and a country to save, and the GOP establishment is in our way.

You can visit my blog at http://conservativehq.com/blog_post/show/227 to leave comments about my article, or read the complete article at http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/commentary/la-oe-viguerie10-2009may10,0,6986091.story.

P.S. The L.A. Times used a more sensationalist headline, "What Republicans Need is a Mutiny," than what I submitted. The point is the GOP does need new leaders, but the leadership must first come from us, the conservatives.
