REPUBLICAN LIBERTY CAUCUS ENDORSES DAVID SIMPSON IN SPECIAL ELECTION (Hills03)

Simpson will add energy and expertise to Republican efforts toward responsible government

CONCORD, N.H.–-To bolster Republicans' progress toward responsible government in the House of Representatives, the Republican Liberty Caucus of New Hampshire is endorsing David Simpson for state representative in a Hillsborough District 3 special election on Tuesday, Sept. 20.

Simpson, who is running for a vacant House seat representing the towns of Peterborough, New Ipswich, Sharon and Greenville, would bring important experience to reinforce the already impressive efforts of the Republican majority in restoring the common sense principles of limited government, individual liberty, personal responsibility, free enterprise and adherence to the state and federal constitutions.

“The Republican majority has demonstrated that they are dedicated to bringing prosperity back to New Hampshire, and David Simpson will be a valuable addition to that effort,” said Andrew Hemingway, chairman of the Republican Liberty Caucus of New Hampshire. “David’s experience, primarily in the areas of finance, budgets and small businesses, will be important as we continue to undo the economic damage wrought by years of Democrat control and public mismanagement.”

On his Web site, www.davidlsimpson.org, Simpson makes clear his commitment to improving the business climate in New Hampshire, which will lead to economic and job growth. He says he wants to work to protect the New Hampshire Advantage by maintaining a reasonable regulatory balance, making business tax rates more competitive and protecting individuals right to work free from union coercion.

“David Simpson will strengthen Republican efforts to restore common sense government in Concord,” said Hemingway. “He is unwavering in his commitment to the welfare and prosperity of our state, and he understands that the only way to get the state back on the path to prosperity is by returning to our legacy of responsible, honest and limited government.”

In general, endorsed RLCNH candidates are strong proponents of limited government, individual liberty, personal responsibility and free enterprise. They have shown their dedication to these ideals with their score on RLCNH’s 20-question candidate survey  and their reputation among liberty activists. Endorsed candidates must score 80 percent or higher on the survey and they must have a strong character recognized by their peers.

NHDP - Chair Ray Buckley's Statement on Democrats Victory in the Special Election

Concord, NH -  New Hampshire Democratic Party Chair Ray Buckley issued the following statement on Democratic candidate Jen Daler's stunning victory in the Hillsborough District 14 special election.

"Jen Daler's massive victory tonight is a complete and total rejection of the reckless Republican agenda that Bill O'Brien has been forcing upon Granite Staters.  In one of the most Republican districts in the entire state, New Hampshire voters turned out in historic numbers to oppose this new out of control Republican majority.   Over 20% of eligible voters came to the polls today, far exceeding the turnout in any previous special election for state Representative in New Hampshire history.

"The results tonight are a loud and clear message; right to work for less, defunding and destroying public education, the irresponsible House Republican budget, and the rest of the Republican job killing agenda of striping away Granite Staters fundamental rights is at odds with New Hampshire values."

Rep O'Brien (Hills04) - NH Democratic State Party chair Raymond Buckley's Monday afternoon robo-call to Republican voters in Hillsborough District 4.

HILLSBOROUGH DISTRICT 4 REPRESENTATIVE FILES COMPLAINT WITH THE ATTORNEY GENERAL OVER LAST MINUTE ROBO-CALL BY STATE DEMOCRATIC PARTY CHAIRMAN BUCKLEY

In response to a bi-partisan request by Rep. William O'Brien to his Democratic

neighbors to write him in as a candidate so that he, like other state representatives across New Hampshire, could draw his constituents together by representing them as both a Republican- and Democrat-nominated candidate, late Monday afternoon before the Tuesday, Sept. 14 primary, Democratic State Party chairman Raymond Buckley robo-called Republicans in the towns of Lyndeborough, Mont Vernon, New Boston, Temple and Wilton to falsely say Rep. O’Brien had come to support the Democrat political agenda of national health care, same gender marriage and abortion on demand. Buckley then joined the discussion on a Democrat blog to congratulate himself on his wit and how he believed, erroneously as it turns out, he had kept Republicans from voting for Rep. O’Brien. Instead, Rep. O’Brien topped the ticket in his district.

In 2003 and after much agitation by Democrats, the New Hampshire legislature

passed a law, RSA 664:14-a, that requires robo-callers to identify who they are calling for, who is paying for the call, and the fiscal agent of the call. It is clear that for Raymond Buckley this statue applies to only Republicans, because in his last minute effort to deceive Hillsborough House District 4 Republicans before the September 14, 2010 primary, he and the NH Democratic State Committee did not make any such disclosures. Rep. O’Brien has turned this incident over to the NH Attorney General’s office for investigation and is evaluating the possibility of a private lawsuit.

Whatever the legal consequences of this incident, not just Republicans and independents in District 4 should be upset by Raymond Buckley’s latest stunt. As Rep. O’Brien said, “Chairman Buckley’s own Democratic party members should be outraged by his representing their party’s agenda as being so repugnant that it would drive voters away from any legislative candidate. Party leaders should try to lead voters to their political platform, not assume it is so foul that claiming their opponents’ association with it would cause those opponents to lose elections.”
