CEI Weekly: The Nation's Worst Attorneys General

>>The Nation's Worst Attorneys General
Some of the nation’s state attorneys general have been very bad indeed, reports Senior Attorney Hans Bader. In the new study, "The Nation’s Worst Attorneys General," Bader documents cases of AGs engaging in unethical behavior, usurping legislative powers, fabricating the law, and following predatory practices in regards to private (and out-of-state) businesses. He goes on to rank the worst of the worst, a list headed up by California’s Jerry Brown and Connecticut’s Richard Blumenthal.

ALG - Obama oil spill containment effort: Incompetent or Willful Neglect?

Fairfax, VA – Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal's May 3rd request to the Obama Administration to build barriers off the Louisiana shoreline to stop oil from reaching pristine areas has been met with an additional delay as Obama Administration National Incident Commander, Admiral Thad Allen issued a request for public comments over the Internet today.

Americans for Limited Government President Bill Wilson reacted to the delays saying, "It is outrageous that fully one month after this request was filed, Obama's man on the ground, is busy soliciting Internet comments rather than taking action."

Governor Jindal  was joined by local Louisiana officials in submitting the barrier island containment plan and discussing it directly with the President on May 2, gaining what seemed like Presidential approval for an expedited approval process to contain the oil.  One month later, President's man on the ground is taking an Internet survey.

Wilson concluded saying, "Crisis management by Internet comments is no way to operate, and goes to the heart of the question whether this Administration is simply grossly incompetent or willfully negligent.  Every ounce of oil that hits the beaches and marshlands is on Obama's hands."

Americans for Limited Government published a commentary today questioning the Obama Administration's commitment to containing the oil spill given their seeming obstructionism and disengagement over the past month and a half.

FRANK GUINTA ENDORSES GRANT BOSSE FOR CONGRESS IN 00th CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT

Manchester, NH – Grant Bosse, independent journalist and former Congressional Candidate for New Hampshire’s actually existing 2nd Congressional District, today announced his candidacy for Congress in the now infamous—yet non-existing—00th District in New Hampshire.  The 00th District received a whopping amount of money from the Carol Shea-Porter backed stimulus plan.  That money reportedly created nearly 3000 jobs in that district.  1st District Congressional Candidate Frank Guinta released the following statement on his new New Hampshire colleague in Congressional Candidacy:

“I completely endorse Grant Bosse in his candidacy for Congress in the 00th District of New Hampshire.  Grant Bosse is the one who discovered this new Congressional District, along with two other phantom districts.  That makes him more on top of the Stimulus funds than the two current Representatives we have who voted for this trillion dollar debacle.  With all those new jobs and dollars being funneled into the district, I believe it deserves representation.  I know many people will tell me that, ‘Frank, but it’s not a real place, it doesn’t exist.’ However, I would argue that if Carol Shea-Porter and her colleagues voted to divvy this trillion dollars out this way, they must be actually sending it somewhere.  The district may be phantom, but the dollars the taxpayers funded this program with are not.  So Carol Shea-Porter should either join me in endorsing Grant Bosse to represent this district, or tell us where the money went and where those jobs actually are. Or, at least admit it’s an absolute disaster that she supported.”

NetRight Daily: Government Care Will Fail

Government Will Fail on Health Care Record Keeping:  As the era of Big Government begins to wear on people, a multitude of evidence has come to the fore to show us just how inefficient and even dangerous the growth of government can be.

Another Tax Cheater from Obama:  It appears that the Obama Administration has hit yet another tax road block with one of its top appointments. Lael Brainard, Obama's choice to become the Treasury Undersecretary of International Affairs, has a tax problem. In short, she conveniently forgets to pay them.

State Recessions, Big Government Obsessions:  House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) has now announced that it is time for the bankrupt federal government to bail out the various bankrupt states. In the real world, this would be known as absurd. In Washington, it is known as politics as usual.

DC Stimulus Funds La Raza and AARP:  Longtime Washington, DC residents are in for a surprise. According to the website Recovery.gov, which supposedly tracks stimulus spending under the recently passed American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, the District of Columbia contains 99 congressional districts.
