NH House Republicans - Blankenbeker Named to House Revenue Committee

Concord—Republican Lynne Blankenbeker of Concord, sworn in today as the newly elected member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives (Merrimack-11) has been appointed to the prestigious Local and Regulated Revenues Committee.   The recommendation for the appointment came from House Republican Leader Sherm Packard (r-Londonderry) and was approved by Speaker of the House Teri Norelli (d-Portsmouth).

“It is clear from her commitment to fiscal responsibility, that Rep. Blankenbeker will be a strong advocate for the taxpayers,” said Packard. “Not only does she have experience in running her own business, but her background in both the legal and health care fields makes her an excellent addition to the Republican caucus.  I am sure the taxpayers of this state will be well served by her at a time when Democrats in Concord have increased spending by 25 percent while creating or increasing more than 50 new fees and taxes,” he added.

The Committee on Local and Regulated Revenues considers all matters relating to local revenue, including fees, property taxes, assessments, credits and abatements; the State Liquor Commission and the liquor laws of the state: the State Racing and Charitable Gaming Commission; horse and dog racing; regulation of gaming; the State Lottery Commission and the lottery laws of the state.

“I am anxious to start working for the voters. As I canvassed the district while campaigning, spending and taxation were the major concerns of the residents that I met. This committee will provide a fertile ground for creative and innovative ways to generate revenue to the state without increasing or adding taxes.  I am looking forward to working with all committee members for the good of New Hampshire.”

Rep. Blankenbeker was elected to fill out the term of Rep. Tara Reardon (d-Concord) who left the State House to serve as the Commissioner of the Department of Employment Security.

NHGOP STATEMENT ON BLANKENBEKER VICTORY IN CONCORD SPECIAL ELECTION

CONCORD – Former New Hampshire Governor and Republican State Committee Chairman John H. Sununu released the following statement on Lynne Blankenbeker’s upset victory in the Concord House special election:

“Lynne Blankenbeker ran a fantastic campaign, showing a commitment to Republican principles and a strong understanding of good, traditional New Hampshire values. She showed that the way to win a campaign in which you are an underdog is to run hard and run true – and she certainly did that.

“This election sends a clear message to Governor Lynch and the radical leadership in the House and Senate that New Hampshire is fed up with the lack of fiscal discipline that has been displayed by the Democrats.
