NHDP - Will Gatsas Denounce Key Santorum Campaign Platform: Ending Medicare As We Know It?

Manchester, N.H. - Today Mayor Ted Gatsas will lean on Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum - whose key campaign platform is ending Medicare as we know it - to raise cash for his reelection campaign.

"As national Republicans have signed on to a reckless agenda to end Medicare as we know, the big question is does Mayor Gatsas agree that the GOP budget is right for New Hampshire?" asked state Representative Mike Brunelle. "Santorum's fundraising for the Mayor's campaign raises a lot of questions about where Gatsas is on Santorum's central campaign platform - ending Medicare as we know it."
Santorum was one of the first GOP presidential candidates to endorse the reckless GOP budget, "I support what he [Ryan] wants to do with Medicare, Medicaid. The only thing I would do, frankly, as I've said publicly many times, I think we should implement a lot of these things sooner than what he's suggesting."
Rep Frank Guinta, Mayor Gatsas' predecessor, voted for the GOP budget to end Medicare multiple times.

A Boston Globe poll released last week found that in New Hampshire "even among likely Republican primary voters...fewer than 30 percent supported cutting Medicare and Social Security."
Another key finding of the poll: "Despite the state's anti-tax reputation, most poll respondents said they would prefer to reduce the deficit by raising taxes on the wealthy, rather than eliminating federal agencies or cutting spending on Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security."

"It's clear where the voters are on this issue and for Mayor Gatsas to raise money from one of the most vocal advocates of ending Medicare as we know it shows us exactly where he is on this issue as well," continued Brunelle.

b-fresh consulting - Rick Snyder Wins Gubernatorial Race In Michigan

What's New

Detroit News: Snyder Rises From Obscurity To Lead GOP Rout In Michigan

b-fresh client Rick Snyder made history Tuesday night when he was elected Michigan's 48th governor. We would like to offer congratulations to the entire Snyder team. It was our pleasure to serve as Rick's new media strategist over the last 20 months.

The Detroit News:

Detroit— "One Tough Nerd" scored one huge win in Michigan's election for governor Tuesday as the Republican Party seized control of all the top offices of state government and reclaimed the Legislature.

"It is time to reinvent Michigan," Rick Snyder told supporters at the Westin Book Cadillac as he stood on a stage with his wife and three children.

Snyder, an Ann Arbor businessman, defeated Democrat Virg Bernero by a wide margin to become Michigan's 48th governor. He said he wants to bring a sense of crisis to Lansing after his inauguration and immediately set to work fixing what he called a broken economy, government and culture in the state.

In a sharp reversal from 2008, when the historic election of President Barack Obama coincided with major electoral gains for Michigan Democrats, the state's voters joined in a midterm rebuke that boosted Republicans from coast to coast.

The election marked not just a power shift but a major facelift at the Capitol in Lansing. The governor, attorney general, secretary of state, and more than three quarters of the Senate and half the House are non-incumbents in the biggest one-day turnover since voters approved term limits in 1992.

The GOP also regained control of the Supreme Court, returning incumbent Justice Bob Young and electing Wayne Circuit Judge Mary Beth Kelly, another Republican nominee, in the two contested seats.

The results could have long-term impacts as Republicans will control the reshaping of state and federal election districts based on the 2010 Census. The new maps will be in place for a decade.

Ayotte For US Senate - Kelly's Campaign Bulletin - August 21, 2010

Kelly's Campaign Bulletin

Kelly kept up her aggressive campaign schedule this week, traveling from Portsmouth, to Walpole to North Conway – and points in between! She attended three candidate forums in three nights. And on Wednesday, she picked up some very special support. Read on…

Mayor Ted Gatsas: Ayotte for Senate

Kelly got another major endorsement this week. Manchester’s Ted Gatsas – the mayor of New Hampshire’s largest city – announced his support for Kelly at a ceremony outside City Hall. Several of Kelly’s prominent Queen City supporters were also in attendance.

“When I was State Senate president, I had an opportunity to work directly with Kelly,” said Mayor Gatsas. “I can say this from personal experience: she’s a tough leader who gets results. That’s exactly what Washington needs, and that’s why I’m backing Kelly for Senate.”

Kelly said: “Mayor Gatsas’ support is a major boost for my campaign, and I’m honored to have him on my team. Winning the Queen City is key to victory, and I look forward to having Mayor Gatsas campaign closely with me."

Kelly’s New Ad – Conservative

It’s the spot everyone’s been talking about: Kelly’s new ad, “Conservative.” Take a look – and share it with a friend!

Kelly Responds

Bill Binnie launched two new TV ads attacking Kelly this week. That follows his false radio attack from last week, which the Union Leader described as an “unsubstantiated smear-campaign.”

New Hampshire voters know Kelly Ayotte’s record of tough conservative leadership as Attorney General. They will not be fooled by Bill Binnie’s false, desperate attacks.

Liberals in Washington are taking our country in the wrong direction, supporting bailouts and higher taxes while opposing Arizona’s tough new immigration law. On the campaign trail Bill Binnie has sounded a lot like those same Washington liberals, saying he was open to a Value-Added Tax, open to the Wall Street bailout, and saying he is opposed to Arizona’s immigration law.

New Hampshire voters cannot afford a tax and spend liberal like Bill Binnie in the U.S. Senate. Kelly continues to run a campaign focused on the issues, which is why her camp is up with a new TV ad highlighting Bill Binnie’s liberal positions.
