NH DOC - Minimum Security Inmate Walks Away From Manchester Halfway House

(Manchester, NH)  The New Hampshire Department of Corrections announces that a minimum security inmate has walked away from the Calumet Transitional Housing Unit in Manchester, N.H.  At approximately 8:30 am on Friday, February 10, 2012, Daniel Alfred Martin, 60, of Nashua, New Hampshire, signed out to go look for employment.  He failed to return at 12:00 p.m. as instructed.  He was placed on walk away status.

Inmate Martin is described as a white male, with brown hair, and blue eyes. He is 69 inches tall and weighs approximately 185 pounds.  He has tattoos on both of his arms. 

He is serving a 3 to 6 year sentence for burglary out of Hillsborough County Superior Court.  He was admitted to the New Hampshire State Prison on November 3, 2008.  He had been eligible for parole on November 2, 2011 but had not been approved for parole.  His sentence will end on November 1, 2014. 

The New Hampshire State Police and the New Hampshire Department of Corrections Investigations Bureau are investigating.  Anybody with information on this inmate’s whereabouts is encouraged to call a local law enforcement agency or the New Hampshire State Prison at 603-271-1801.

NH DOC - Inmate Missing From Concord Halfway House

(Concord, N.H.)  The New Hampshire Department of Corrections announces that an inmate is missing from the Shea Farm Transitional Housing Unit in Concord.  On Sunday, February 5, 2012, Erica Lee Rollins, 27, of Lebanon, N.H. was not present for 11:00 p.m. count and was placed on walk away status.

Inmate Rollins is described as a white female, with brown hair and brown eyes. She is 64inches tall and weighs approximately 160 pounds.  She has tattoos on her right leg, upper right arm, and upper left arm.

Inmate Rollins is serving a 2 to 5 year sentence from Grafton County Superior Court for Theft by Unauthorized Taking (RSA 637:3) with 177 days of time served credited to her sentence.  She was admitted to the New Hampshire State Prison for Women on May 18, 2011. She will be eligible for parole on November 20, 2012 and her sentence will end on November 20, 2015.

The New Hampshire State Police and the New Hampshire Department of Corrections Investigations Bureau are investigating.  Anyone with information on her whereabouts is urged to contact a local law enforcement agency or the New Hampshire State Prison at 603-271-1801.

NH DOC - Minimum Security Inmate Walks Away From Manchester Halfway House  

(Manchester, N.H.) The New Hampshire Department of Corrections announces that a minimum security inmate is missing from the Calumet Transitional Housing Unit in Manchester.

On January 30, 2012 at approximately 11:45 am, Jimmie Lee Carlton, 45, of Great Lakes, Illinois was found to be in possession of a cell phone which is considered to be contraband.  He was informed that he would be transported to the Corrections Transitional Work Center in Concord to face a disciplinary hearing.  He was given permission to collect his property from his room but instead of going to his room he exited the facility from a side door.  He was placed on walkway status.

Inmate Carlton is described as a black male, with black hair and brown eyes.  He is 67 inches tall and weighs 190 pounds.  He has a scar on his upper left arm.

Inmate Carlton was serving a 6 ½ to 20 year sentence from Strafford County Superior Court for Armed Robbery (RSA 636-1-III) with 222 days credited for time served.  He was admitted to the New Hampshire State Prison on March 29, 2006 and would have been eligible for parole on September 18, 2012.  His sentence will end on November 14, 2014. 

The New Hampshire Department of Corrections, New Hampshire State Police, and the Manchester Police Department are investigating.  Anyone with information on his whereabouts is encouraged to call a local law enforcement agency or the New Hampshire State Prison at 603-271-1801.

NH DOC - New Warden to be Sworn-in in February

(Concord, NH)  New Hampshire Department of Corrections William L. Wrenn announced that Edward Reilly of Eaton, New Hampshire, will be sworn in as the new Warden of the Northern New Hampshire Correctional Facility (NCF) in Berlin on February 6, 2012.  The Executive Council approved of the nomination on January 11, 2012. The brief swearing in ceremony will take place at the Commissioner’s office in Concord.

Warden-Elect Eaton is a Subject Matter Expert on Correctional Matters with the Office of Detention Policy and Planning for Immigration Customs and Enforcement (ICE) in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. He was previously the Facility Director of the Varick Federal Detention Center in New York and the Sheriff of the Nassau County Correctional Center.  Prior to that appointment he worked for the New York City Department of Correction in many capacities beginning in 1972.

Warden-Elect Reilly is a graduate of Fordham University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. He also holds a Masters of Education/Curriculum and a Teaching degree and is currently a candidate for a Masters in English Literature degree at Queens College in New York.

Commissioner Wrenn said, “Mr. Reilly has a proven record of dedicated involvement and professionalism in the field of Corrections.”

NCF is a medium-minimum security prison that houses approximately 600 male inmates and employs 160 staff.  It began operations in 2000.

NH DOC - Untimely Death at the NH State Prison for Women 

(Goffstown, NH) The New Hampshire Department of Corrections announces that there was an untimely death of an inmate at the New Hampshire State Prison for Women in Goffstown.  At approximately 10:30 a.m. on December 28, 2011, Corrections staff responded to a report of an inmate suffering a seizure in her room.  The inmate became unresponsive. Medical staff attempted to resuscitate the inmate without success.  She was transported to Catholic Medical Center in Manchester where she was pronounced dead. 

The deceased inmate is Kristin Kimberly Ruggiero, 36.  She was convicted in Rockingham County Superior Court of multiple counts of falsifying physical evidence and is serving consecutive sentences of 3 ½ - 7 years in prison.  She was admitted to the women’s prison on August 19, 2010.  She would have been eligible for parole on January 7, 2018. 

The New Hampshire State Police and Department of Corrections Investigations Bureau are investigating the incident. The New Hampshire Medical Examiner’s office will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
