NRCC - ICYMI: Concord Monitor: The president talks a good game, but where are the jobs?

NOTE: ...the president's back - still doing little more than talking. In Washington, he's done nothing to successfully induce job creation and promote economic growth, and New Hampshire has had enough of his empty promises...

President Obama could learn a lesson or two from New Hampshire Republicans...

In Washington, Congressmen Frank Guinta and Charlie Bass have joined House Republicans in passing 22 bills that would directly spur job creation - bills to curb over-bearing regulations, ramp up energy production, support small businesses, keep taxes low and ease government mandates.

President Obama likes to talk about how Republicans won't work with him. But here's what he won't tell you: Each of those 22 bills received bipartisan support in the House. Meanwhile, the president's own "jobs bill" received bipartisan opposition in the Senate.

President Obama arrives in New Hampshire today to do what he does best: talk jobs. It's hardly the first time. Back in February 2010, he declared to a Nashua audience: "Jobs has to be our number one focus."

With national unemployment still at 9 percent, the president must have lost focus.

Twenty months later, the president's back - still doing little more than talking. In Washington, he's done nothing to successfully induce job creation and promote economic growth, and New Hampshire has had enough of his empty promises. In a recent Bloomberg poll, 53 percent of New Hampshire voters disapprove of the job he's doing.

Here in the Granite State, voters are upset with the direction of our country - and disappointed in the president's utter inability to turn things around.

What is especially troubling, though, is that the president hasn't just failed to spur economic growth, he's stood firmly in its way. His policies have done more to impede job creation than to promote it.

Through massive regulations, threats of tax hikes, and the reckless accumulation of debt, he's burdened job creators in a time when we should be freeing businesses to hire American workers.

And just one month after that February 2010 declaration that jobs were his "number one focus," the president erected the biggest roadblock to job creation in the last three years: Obamacare.

Not only has Obamacare failed to cut health care costs as promised, it has added to our national debt and plagued New Hampshire's small businesses with expensive mandates, making hiring especially difficult.

In such an inhospitable economic environment, small and large business alike are sitting on what available capital they have, worried about the job-killing policies Washington Democrats will craft next. That money should be spent hiring unemployed New Hampshire workers.

President Obama could learn a lesson or two from New Hampshire Republicans.

Just this year, our Republican Legislature passed more than 40 bills that eliminate the excessive regulations holding back New Hampshire's small businesses, and we helped claw back the outrageous spending habits of past Legislatures.

Showing a commitment to one of the founding principles of our nation, we voted to repeal "card check" because people deserve a secret ballot and leaders who aren't afraid to stand up for workers' rights.

Unlike the president, our Republican Legislature has honored and restored the New Hampshire tradition of small, efficient government by eliminating wasteful and duplicative programs, resulting in an 11 percent reduction in our budget.

So, why doesn't the Senate take up those 22 bills? Senate Democrats simply say no. President Obama says no. If there's no stimulus spending, they're hardly interested. And besides, if the president worked with Republicans, he'd find it much harder to run against them.

He has to run against them because the truth is he has no record to run on. Consider his latest accomplishment: pushing the national debt over $15 trillion. That certainly doesn't make for a good bumper sticker.

With debt like that, New Hampshire literally cannot afford another four years of President Obama. In 2008, voters took him at his word when he promised to cut the deficit. Three years later, he's created three record budget deficits exceeding $1 trillion each.

Back in 2010, President Obama told us, "I didn't run just to keep my poll numbers as high as possible for the next election. I ran to solve problems for the next generation."

As we head to Election Day 2012, though, it's undeniably clear: He's created more problems for the next generation than he's solved. So by his own standard, he doesn't deserve re-election.

In 2008, New Hampshire elected a president that was good at talking about jobs. In 2012, we'll elect one that actually knows how to create them.

Hosmer Heads to Washington with Hopes of Being the Next Obama-Pelosi Rubber Stamp

New Hampshire Democrat Recruit Meets With Washington Party Leaders Who Hand-Picked Him to Push for the Failed Obama-Pelosi Agenda

Washington --- With President Obama’s failed policies more unpopular than ever, Andrew Hosmer is rushing to the aid of Washington Democrats today in hopes of returning Nancy Pelosi to the Speaker’s Chair. Since he has been hand-picked by Washington Democrat leaders, Pelosi and Obama know they can count on Hosmer to defend their years of failed leadership which has left middle-class families in New Hampshire facing increasingly dismal economic prospects.

“Today’s meeting in Washington makes it clear that President Obama is counting on Andrew Hosmer to return Nancy Pelosi to the Speaker’s Chair so they can promote more of their failed taxing, spending and borrowing spree that will make a bad economy worse,” said NRCC Communications Director Paul Lindsay. “Hosmer will be nothing more than a rubber stamp for Obama and Pelosi’s broken policies, which voters are rejecting more than ever before.”

Democrat leaders are inviting their hand-selected, top recruits to Washington on Wednesday:

“The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is bringing over 100 of its top recruits to Washington on Wednesday for a day of training and meeting with top Democratic officials as they prepare their candidates for next year's election cycle in their hopes of taking back the House.” (Jessica Taylor, “DCCC Bringing Top Recruits to D.C.,” National Journal’s Hotline On Call Blog, 10/24/11)

They are counting on loyal candidates to support their Democrat agenda in the face of increasing unpopularity:

“House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi to Christiane Amanpour, in a bite for ABC’s ‘This Week’ that didn’t make the show, on whether she would advise vulnerable Dems to invite President Obama into their districts to campaign with them: …

“The president would be well received by any one of our members into their districts. … [T]he consensus in our caucus that we're very proud of his coming forth with a jobs bill, with his speaking out about why it's important to the American people. His reelection is very important to the country. … [H]e's been a great president. And our members are very proud of him. And I think any one of us would love to have the president as a guest in our districts.” (Mike Allen, Politico’s Playbook, 10/9/11)

President Obama’s Democrat policies are now more unpopular than ever with American voters, underscoring the importance Democrat leaders are placing on finding loyal recruits:

“President Barack Obama's 11th quarter in office was the worst of his administration, based on his quarterly average job approval ratings. His 41% approval average is down six percentage points from his 10th quarter in office, and is nearly four points below his previous low of 45% during his seventh quarter.” (Jeffrey M. Jones, “Obama Job Approval Average Slides to New Low in 11th Quarter,” Gallup, 10/21/11)

Democrat leaders in Washington believe they’ve found the perfect new rubber stamp for their failed agenda in Andrew Hosmer. However, it seems doubtful that middle-class families struggling with the bad economy in New Hampshire believe that installing Nancy Pelosi back into the Speaker’s Chair is the solution to years of failed Democrat leadership.

NRCC - Shea-Porter Heads to Washington with Hopes of Being the Next Obama-Pelosi Rubber Stamp

New Hampshire Democrat Recruit Meets With Washington Party Leaders Who Hand-Picked Her to Push for the Failed Obama-Pelosi Agenda

Washington --- With President Obama’s failed policies more unpopular than ever, Carol Shea-Porter is rushing to the aid of Washington Democrats today in hopes of returning Nancy Pelosi to the Speaker’s Chair. Since she has been hand-picked by Washington Democrat leaders, Pelosi and Obama know they can count on Shea-Porter to defend their years of failed leadership which has left middle-class families in New Hampshire facing increasingly dismal economic prospects.

NRCC - Does Shea-Porter Believe that Obama has ‘Turned the Economy Around’?

Democrat Party Chair Says Their Job-Killing Policies Were Able to “Turn This Economy Around” While Middle-Class Families Suffer from a Weak Economy

Washington --- Although the economic realities facing American middle-class families remain dire and unpredictable, Carol Shea-Porter's Democrat leaders seem negligent to the damage that their economic policies have done. If Shea-Porter agrees with her party Chairwoman that the Democrats’ devastating policies have fixed the economy, she is clearly out-of-touch with New Hampshire's middle-class families and the dire situation they are currently in.

“Carol Shea-Porter's party leaders have made it clear they are more interested in advancing and defending their devastating policies than accepting the catastrophic reality of their job-stifling agenda or the dire economic realities New Hampshire families have to face every day,” said NRCC Communications Director Paul Lindsay. “If she can’t admit her own Democrat policies have failed miserably, Shea-Porter is demonstrating how remarkably out of touch she is with the most urgent needs of middle-class families and small businesses in New Hampshire.”

On Sunday, Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz ignored economic reality, declaring that Democrat policies have been able to “turn this economy around” successfully:

MR. GREGORY: Sixty percent almost, 59 percent, disapprove of the president's handling of the economy.  And there are facts that back that up that are difficult for this administration and for the Democrats:  unemployment's up 25 percent since Inauguration Day for President Obama; the debt's up 35 percent, over $14 trillion; a gallon of gas up over 100 percent, with gas $3.75, higher than that in certain parts of the country.  Why should Americans trust Democratic governance right now on the economy, and particularly the president's?

REP. SCHULTZ:  Because we were able to, under President Obama's leadership, turn this economy around.  When President Obama took office...

MR. GREGORY:  Whoa, whoa, let me just stop you there.  Clearly, the economy has not been turned around.  I mean, you just saw those numbers.

REP. SCHULTZ:  It, it certainly--it has...

MR. GREGORY:  Americans don't believe that's the case. (Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, NBC’s “Meet the Press,” 6/12/11)

Clearly Carol Shea-Porter's Democrat leaders are negligent of the obvious failure of their job-crushing policies in addition to the real needs of American middle-class families. Does that mean Shea-Porter agrees that her own policies have left the economy in its current state, or does she stand beside them and deny that families and small businesses in New Hampshire actually need relief?

NRCC Welcomes Frank Guinta to Patriot Program

Program Will Aid Guinta in Developing Winning Re-election Campaign

Washington— National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Pete Sessions (R-TX) and Deputy Chairman Greg Walden (R-OR), the co-chairs of the Patriot Program, today announced that Congressman Frank Guinta (R-NH) is included in the first round of Patriot Program Members for the 2012 election cycle.  The program is a rigorous, goal-oriented initiative that enables Members to stay on offense as they build winning re-election campaigns.

“The Patriot program is about staying on offense by building strong and winning campaigns against Democrats and their agenda that bankrupts our nation,” said Chairman Sessions. “Frank Guinta has demonstrated the leadership and ability to wage an aggressive campaign based on rigorous goals and proven strategies for victory.  I’m very proud of Frank Guinta and these Patriot Members who are leading the fight for victory in 2012.”

Established in 2009, the Patriot Program empowers incumbent Members to build strong campaigns through measured benchmarks and accountability, including for fundraising, communications and grassroots organization. Patriot Program Members can define strengths, address challenges early and build iron-clad campaigns for re-election.

“Every Member prepared for victory next election will strengthen a House Republican Majority that is committed to the American people’s priorities of cutting spending, reducing debt and creating jobs,” said Deputy Chairman Walden. “An iron-clad campaign spells defeat for Democrats vying to return Nancy Pelosi as Speaker, and I applaud Frank Guinta for taking on the challenge of controlling the competitiveness of his race through the strength of his own campaign.”

In 2010, 40 Members successfully completed the Patriot Program, enabling the NRCC to focus 98.5 percent of Independent Expenditure resources on defeating Democrats to win the majority in the House of Representatives.
