TheCanKicksBack - Rivlin, Walker dance the “Harlem Shake” in new web video

Budget experts encourage young people to "shake things up" in debt debate

Budget experts Alice Rivlin and David Walker are featured dancing the “Harlem Shake” in a new web video released today by The Can Kicks Back (TCKB) campaign.

“There’s no dancing around the fact that more needs to be done, quickly, to put our future debt on a downward track,” said Rivlin, former director of the Congressional Budget Office and White House Office of Management and Budget.

“What’s going on in Washington is truly outrageous; it’s time to shake things up,” said Walker, former Comptroller General of the United States.

TCKB’s dented mascot, AmeriCAN, is also featured in the dance.

The video plays off a meme that went viral in the last week. According to YouTube, more than 12,000 “Harlem Shake” videos have been viewed 44 million times to date.

“We intend to make the important issue of our national debt ‘go viral’ among young Americans by reaching them where they already are online in a context that will call them to action rather than put them to sleep,” said Nick Troiano, TCKB’s field director.

A previous popular video from the non-partisan, Millennial-led organization featured former Senator and fiscal commission co-chair Alan Simpson dancing Gangnam Style.

The Can Kicks Back campaign was launched in November 2012 to educate, organize and mobilize the Millennial generation on the issue of our $16.4 trillion and growing national debt. The campaign will soon announce the launch of more than 100 local chapters in high schools, college campuses and young professional communities across the country.

48 Hours Until Thousands of Obama Protesters Converge on all State Capitols

February 13, 2013 (MMD Newswire) -- Over 20,000 people have signed up online to attend the National Protests Against Obama (NPAO) in all 50 state capitals in 48 hours through both ALIPAC's Facebook event page and website AgainstAmnesty.com. Despite the recently documented censorship efforts by Facebook, the number of protesters planning to muster is growing rapidly!

Peaceful and racially inclusive picket style protests will take place on public sidewalks at all 50 American state capitols this Saturday, February 16, from 11am to 1pm in respective time zones.

Protest address locations and more information can be found on the Facebook invite page at https://www.facebook.com/events/4653...94260/?fref=ts

Online activists are spreading the word and encouraging like-minded citizens to join using e-mails, social media, online communities, and calls to talk radio shows.

The attendance ranks are swelling despite the fact Facebook has been caught red handed blocking ads promoting the protests, allowing pro Obama activists to deface the NPAO event page, and blocking the main event page from the search results of the Facebook search engine.

"More Americans are quickly learning that both the main stream and social media are acting as extensions of Obama's totalitarian, dictatorial, and nation dividing regime," said William Gheen, the primary NPAO organizer and President of ALIPAC. "We are proud to see so many Americans standing up and speaking out against these abuses of our political and financial systems, our citizens, our Republic, and our entire Bill of Rights."

The NPAO rallies are designed to take place legally, picket style, without permits, to test if Americans still have the right to both peacefully assemble and the right to petition government for redress of grievances. Some recent gun rights protests that sought permits were placed in locations where their attendees could not be seen by the public or lawmakers.

Protesters will be citing a host of valid concerns and complaints regarding Barack Obama's policies such as unprecedented spending and debt, Amnesty for illegal aliens orders by fiat, attempts to restrict gun rights, attacks on free speech on the web, the purchase of thousands of assault rifles for the Mexican mafia via Fast and Furious, the ridiculous cover story released during Benghazigate, the unconstitutional appointments to the Labor Board, the suspension of Habeas Corpus rights through the NDAA, and many more policy issues not related to Obama's race.

Talk radio show hosts and members of the American media are encouraged to inform more Americans about these protests before they occur and to attend these protests to speak with participants.

NHGOP RESPONSE TO THE STATE OF THE UNION ADDRESS

Concord, NH- New Hampshire Republican State Committee Chairman Jennifer Horn released the following statement in response to President Obama's State of the Union address:

"Tonight's State of the Union address reminded Americans that President Obama is not serious about fixing our economy and getting our fiscal house in order. The President repeated more of the same hollow promises and empty rhetoric that has resulted in record unemployment and exploding budget deficits during his time in office.

"The most pressing issue of the day is a 16 trillion dollar national debt and the President did not offer a realistic plan to cut spending, and as the economy continues to underperform and millions of Americans remain unemployed and underemployed, the President offers policies sure to hurt job growth moving forward.

"Granite Staters understand that President Obama is a tax-and-spend liberal who is completely out of touch with the traditional New Hampshire principles of lower taxes, less spending and limited government.

"New Hampshire needs real economic solutions, not more meaningless speeches. Republican leaders like Senator Kelly Ayotte have shown they are serious about returning fiscal sanity to Washington and promoting the pro-growth policies that will create economic opportunity and more good jobs for working families."

ALG's Daily Grind - Government targeting of conservatives a disturbing trend

Feb. 1, 2013

Government targeting of conservatives a disturbing trend

Why are law enforcement and the military listening to the Southern Poverty Law Center? And did Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano perjure herself when she testified about the discredited right-wing extremism memo?

Cartoon: Shooting all the time

Obama touts his record of taking aim.

Does the National Debt Matter?

The greatest fiscal crisis that will face our nation in the next decade won't be Medicare spending or Social Security, it will be whether we should refuse to pay the banks and nations that own our debt or severely cut back on all government services in order to make them whole.

ALG's Daily Grind - The true 'conservatives'

Jan. 14, 2013

The true 'conservatives'

Paul Krugman and Narayana Kocherlakota call for more "stimulus," continuing one of America's oldest traditions: incurring debt.

Obama's loo-worthy Treasury appointment

Only Obama could appoint someone who insisted to Congress that the Obama budget that he crafted would not add to the debt of the United States in spite of the fact that it never produced an annual deficit lower than $600 billion over 10 years.

Republicans must show that they are serious about spending cuts

Republicans must ask themselves how voters, who constantly hear their campaign promises to cut spending and tackle the out-of-control government debt, will react when they cannot even enforce the sequester cuts that they voted for.

TheHill.com: Calif. governor says Medicaid expansion will cost $350 million

California Governor Jerry Brown puts the lie to the Obama Administration's claim that Medicaid expansion would not be onerous on states, with the state's bill coming in at $350 million.
