NRSC - Harry Reid is Plotting

We’ve been saying for a while now that the stakes couldn’t be any higher for 2014. And it’s true. The 2014 Senate elections aren’t just about the next two years. If we fail to take the majority in November, we risk losing the majority for years to come. Which means more taxes, less healthcare freedom, and policies that hurt job growth and our economy.

Harry Reid’s making this extremely clear in his messages to supporters.

Reid says Dems can put the Senate out of the GOP's reach for years to come

Reid knows the midterms are much bigger than the next two years. He'll do whatever it takes to win the Senate this fall and keep his majority – and reckless agenda - for years to come. That’s why we can’t wait to fight back. Your support today is absolutely critical if we want to match the Democrats political fundraising machine.

Please contribute $100, $50, $25 or what you can today to help Republicans take the Senate in 2014.

Testerman For US Senate - The Obama-Reid-Shaheen Economy

CONCORD, NH - Karen Testerman, Republican candidate for the United States Senate, commented on the unemployment benefits being considered in Washington D.C.

"Why should we listen to economic 'solutions' from Democrats who have led us into the slowest recovery ever? President Obama, Harry Reid, and Jeanne Shaheen will never get out of the way of the private sector. Their big-government ideas have created this crawling economy that prompts more big-government 'solutions,'" Testerman said. "If Democrats knew how to solve economic problems, we would have plenty of jobs and increased demand for labor, resulting in naturally rising wages.

"Obamacare has been looming for over three years. It has over-regulated the sixth of our economy related to medical care, and it has created uncertainty for the entire economy and slowed hiring."

Concord - New Hampshire Republican State Committee Chairman Jennifer Horn released the following statement today on Senator Harry Reid's Senate Majority PAC launching a dishonest attack ad for Senator Jeanne Shaheen. The release of the ad follows reports that Shaheen's campaign has launched message testing telephone polls in a desperate attempt to find an excuse for her deciding vote for ObamaCare:

"Harry Reid is in full blown panic mode because he realizes that New Hampshire voters are ready to remove one of his most loyal and obedient foot soldiers from office in 2014. His dishonest ad for Jeanne Shaheen's flailing reelection campaign is political payback for her decision to cast the deciding vote for ObamaCare and for mindlessly voting with President Obama over 95% of the time.

"This attack ad and Jeanne Shaheen's desperate attempt to find an excuse for her blind support for ObamaCare through her latest round of polling show how nervous she is about 2014. The ad also reminds voters that despite her attacks on Wall Street, Shaheen has hypocritically accepted over $1.6 million from Wall Street donors and missed important Senate votes to attend Wall Street fundraisers.

"Despite concerns from her constituents, Jeanne Shaheen continues to vote in lockstep with her party's disastrous agenda because she is bought and paid for by politicians like Harry Reid who are funding her dishonest campaign. Granite Staters know that Shaheen is nothing but a phony, unaccomplished, pawn for her party leadership who lacks the independent leadership we expect from our elected officials."

NRSC - Will Shaheen Back Reid on False ObamaCare Promise?

Harry Reid insists "What [President Obama] said was true. If you want to keep the insurance you have you can keep it."

This week Majority Leader Harry Reid doubled down on one of the biggest political deceptions in modern history. Reid insisted "I still go back and say what I said earlier. What [President Obama] said was true. If you want to keep the insurance you have you can keep it."

This raises a significant question: Does Jeanne Shaheen agree with Harry Reid that Granite Staters will still be able to keep their health care if they like it? If Reid's claim is true, why is Shaheen promoting legislation that seems to run counter to that claim?

Despite Jeanne Shaheen's repeated promises otherwise, 22,000 Granite Staters' health insurance policies are in jeopardy. That reality is because Shaheen was the deciding vote for ObamaCare and even joined Senate Democrats to support the very ObamaCare rule that's responsible for the health insurance cancellations that have caused so much consternation for more than a month.

"For the last three years, Jeanne Shaheen, Barack Obama and Harry Reid repeatedly made blatantly false promises about ObamaCare," said NRSC Press Secretary Brook Hougesen. "Now that Harry Reid insists that the promise they made was true, does Jeanne Shaheen stand by it as well? After all the deceptions, lies and broken promises about ObamaCare over the last four years, Granite Staters have a hard time believing anything that Jeanne Shaheen and her liberal friends in Washington say about the unpopular law."

Senate Democrats Voted Unanimously To Support The ObamaCare Rule That's Responsible For The Cancellation Of People's Health Insurance. "In September 2010, Senate Republicans brought a resolution to the floor to block implementation of the grandfather rule, warning that it would result in canceled policies and violate President Barack Obama’s promise that people could keep their insurance if they liked it....On a party line vote, Democrats killed the resolution, which could come back to haunt vulnerable Democrats up for re-election this year....The rule set up the criteria for what insurance plans would be grandfathered, or exempted, from the new Obamacare requirements."  (CNN, Senate Democrats supported rule that led to insurance cancellations, 10/31/2013)

ALG - Harry Reid violates near century-old Senate rule to change Senate rules on filibuster

Nov. 21, 2013, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government vice president of public policy and communications Rick Manning today issued the following statement blasting the Senate Democrat Majority for violating Senate rules in order to change rules and eliminate the filibuster:

"Standing Rule XXII of the Senate clearly states that to amend Senate rules requires a two-thirds majority, and yet Senate Democrats have done so with just a simple majority to eliminate the filibuster on presidential nominations. Legality aside, now that this new precedent has been set, it would be foolish for Republicans to rescind them should they regain control of the chamber in 2014, or to agree to future reinstatement when a Republican eventually becomes president again.

"This precedent that a simple majority can impose its will in the Senate forever shatters the cooling saucer of the formerly most deliberative body, and it is only a matter of time before the filibuster is dismantled entirely. The concept of minority rights has been forever altered. Harry Reid's Senate is now little more than a rubber stamp for presidential nominations."
