Guinta For Congress - How long will Rep. Shea-Porter hide from her partisan record?

5 WEEKS AND COUNTING… HOW LONG WILL CONGRESSWOMAN SHEA-PORTER HIDE FROM HER PARTISAN RECORD?

“The question today is the same as it was five weeks ago – will Congresswoman Shea-Porter ever embrace the New Hampshire tradition of accessibility or does she plan on spending the rest of the election hiding from her lock-step voting record with Nancy Pelosi?”

(Manchester – June 26, 2012) As of yesterday, five weeks have now gone by since the Guinta for Congress campaign noted that Congresswoman Shea-Porter has made an incredible effort to hide from Granite State voters. Since then, nothing has changed.

On June 20th, this campaign pointed out in a news release that when Granite Staters visit www.sheaporter.com, the only thing New Hampshire voters are greeted with is a picture of the Congresswoman, a short letter on why she is running for reelection, and the option to donate to her campaign. No ability to learn about her position on the issues. No possibility of studying her record in Congress.

We are almost 100 days from Election Day and Granite Staters would be hard pressed to even find a single event to talk with Congresswoman Shea-Porter at – as she has made significant efforts to not publically release any events she plans on attending.

Guinta spokesman Derek Dufresne released the following statement:

“When Congresswoman Shea-Porter went to Washington, she forgot about New Hampshire. Now in 2012, she’s hoping that New Hampshire forgets about her partisan voting record. Granite Staters deserve better than a politician who would rather hide from them then openly discuss the important issues of the day.

“The question today is the same as it was five weeks ago – will Congresswoman Shea-Porter ever embrace the New Hampshire tradition of accessibility or does she plan on spending the rest of the election hiding from her lock-step voting record with Nancy Pelosi?”

NH GOP - Shea-Porter Continues to Hide Record Supporting Pelosi

In case you missed it, included below is a comment from New Hampshire Republican State Committee Chairman Wayne MacDonald highlighting Carol Shea-Porter’s efforts to hide her loyalty to Nancy Pelosi from voters in New Hampshire.

“If voters in New Hampshire want to learn about former Congresswoman Shea-Porter’s record, don’t look to her to offer up any information.  Carol’s campaign seems to be a continuation of her time in Congress where she not only rubberstamped then-Speaker Pelosi’s tax-and-spend agenda but she also failed to offer much constituent outreach as an elected official.  All voters need to know is that Carol already told us where she stands when she said she votes with Pelosi and Democrat leaders ‘100 percent of the time…because frankly I think they’re 100 percent right.’”

Background: “In an April 2007 interview with the Concord Monitor, Shea-Porter explained her views: ‘And so far I have voted, I think, 100 percent of the time with [Democratic leaders] because frankly I think they’re 100 percent right,’ she said.” (Alex Isenstadt, “Is Third Time The N.H. GOP’s Charm?”, Politico, 4/23/2009)

NH GOP - An 'Annoyed" Shea-Porter Refuses to Support Pelosi

Does Carol Regret Supporting Pelosi 98% of the time?

Concord, NH – After serving in Congress as then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s puppet, Carol Shea-Porter stumbled this weekend over a simple question of whether or not she would support her again.  Shea-Porter first refused to answer WMUR’s Josh McElveen’s question, then became “annoyed,” and finally said “I don’t know.”

“Carol Shea-Porter ignored N.H. voters and instead served as Pelosi’s rubberstamp by voting with her 98 percent of the time,” said New Hampshire Republican State Committee Chairman Wayne MacDonald.  “I’m surprised Shea-Porter became so visibly defensive, but I’m not surprised that she tried to duck the question given her dishonest track record of broken promises and phony pledges.”

According to the Washington Post, Shea-Porter voted with Pelosi 98 percent of the time, including loyal support for the Democrat’s government-run health plan.

“If Carol is so eager to walk back her support of Pelosi, she should also regret supporting her party’s behemoth healthcare overhaul which is busting state budgets, raising taxes on small businesses and forcing millions, including seniors, to change doctors,” Chairman MacDonald added.  “While Shea-Porter may be ‘annoyed’ by questions from the press, Granite Staters rejected her in 2010 because they were annoyed and frustrated with her failed record.”

Included below is additional information on the Democrat’s health overhaul, ObamaCare, as well as an unofficial transcript of Shea-Porter’s interview with Josh McElveen on WMUR’s Close Up this weekend.

Unofficial Transcript

JOSH MCELVEEN: If Democrats take back the House, are you going to vote for Nancy Pelosi?

SHEA PORTER: Why do you ask that?

JOSH MCELVEEN: Why not, she's a polarizing figure.

SHEA PORTER: I have to say that I find it -- it is sort of the beat up on -- and I'm not saying that you are, I'm just saying that asking that question...

JOSH MCELVEEN: I think it is a fair question. She's a very divisive figure.

SHEA PORTER: But see she never really was a divisive figure, she was there for many years, they made her a divisive figure in 2010 and I know you know, you saw all the things even after she lost the speakership, they still had in the window -- fire Pelosi, became the rallying call there.  But she's actually not really a divisive figure.  She served her state and served in Congress for many, many years and served well and got a lot of legislation passed, so it has become the political touchstone.

JOSH MCELVEEN: Why does it annoy you that I ask the question?

SHEA PORTER: It doesn't annoy me I just asked you why

JOSH MCELVEEN: I still didn't get an answer.

SHEA PORTER: The answer is that I don't know who is going be there. I don't know what the issues are going to be, I don't know if anybody is going to stand up and present something different, I don't know…

AFP - One last Pelosi/Reid spending spree to STOP

Harry Reid's lame duck Senate is pushing one last out-of-control, earmark laden $1.1 trillion "omnibus" spending bill and I'm asking you to make sure you tell your Senators to vote NO CLICK HERE

And, Republicans need to hear from us just like the Democrats do so please contact both your Senators now.

Just 4 eye-popping numbers in the Reid "omnibus" spending bill say it all:

*1,924 pages long at $575.13 million spent per page

*$1 billion -- for pre-funding of the un-Constitutional Obama/Pelosi/Reid health care takeover

*6,488 pork-barrel earmarks identified so far

Think about this.  After failing to complete its budget for yet another year, this failed Senate is pushing this $1.1 trillion monstrosity of deficit spending.

As Harry Reid arrogantly said, "We're not through.  Congress ends January 4."

So Reid is ignoring the November 2nd election and thumbing his nose at the American people with this "omnibus" spending bill.  Let's not let him get away with it.

He needs 60 votes to force a vote so let's make sure he does not get it.

Sincerely,

Tim Phillip's Signature

PS: Our friends at Taxpayers Against Earmarks have a great database of all the pork-barrel requests and the latest earmark news at www.EndingSpending.com.

PPS: We hear some retiring Republicans are considering voting for this disaster.  Let's make sure anyone willing to fund ObamaCare in exchange for a bunch of pork-barrel earmarks knows what a terrible legacy that will leave.  Let's tell all the members of both parties that forcing a massive spending bill like this through in the lame duck is just wrong.  Contact your senators by CLICKING HERE.

ALG - 15.1 Million Unemployed, Unemployment Rate up to 9.8%, Obama's Big Government Plan Fails

Going into this holiday season, 15.1 million people are unemployed with millions more underemployed, yet this Administration continues to view the job creators as the enemy, and have promised increased regulation, paperwork and taxes as the solution.  If big government was the solution to the economic problem, people would be employed, and Americans would be celebrating the success of massive government spending.

Yesterday, lame-duck Speaker, Nancy Pelosi, continued this attack on the job creators by insisting on raising taxes on small businesses.  It is time to put the American worker first by cutting government spending and allowing our nation's free enterprise engine to put America back to work.
