TheTeaParty.net - The Future of American Freedom

Dear Patriot,

Repeal ObamacareHave you resigned to handing control over every decision you make to the federal government?  Are you resigned to worse medical care at higher prices?  Have you accepted the inevitability of Obamacare?

If the federal government is allowed to takeover healthcare in our country, the Constitution is, for all intents and purposes, nullified. Every decision we make impacts our health and the potential cost of our healthcare. The car you drive, the food you eat, even how much time you spend outdoors all impact the potential burden of your healthcare under Obamacare and the government will have a financial interest and the perceived authority to regulate every aspect of your life.

Obamacare is a scourge upon this nation and must be the primary focus of the Tea Party movement in 2012.  In March the Supreme Court will begin hearing arguments on the constitutionality of Obamacare, and if the court decides to uphold the constitution, the law will be struck down.  Unfortunately the court has four committed liberals who will rubber-stamp their messiah's power grab, four justices who are consistent strict-constructionists who are likely to strike down the law, and one who revels in being the deciding vote.

We are currently in the preliminary stages of planning a massive rally outside of the Supreme Court when they will weigh Obamacare.  If we can put together a huge showing, it could swing Justice Kennedy towards the constitution and solidify support among Justices Thomas, Scalia, Roberts, and Alito.

Putting together an event large enough to make an impact is going to be a challenge. It is going to take logistics to make sure everyone who can be there, is, and it is going to take financial resources to make sure that the scale of this event reflects the dire nature of this threat to American freedom.

Help us get started by making a generous contribution today

Thank You,

NHDP - NH Senior Citizens Call on Lamontagne to Renounce Right Wing Plan to End Medicare

Concord, NH -New Hampshire Medicare beneficiaries are condemning Republican plans to block grant and end Medicare. Ovide Lamontagne, wrote in a recent op-ed that he will as Governor he would "seek block grants of Medicaid and Medicare" which would end those successful programs.

The State House is set to vote on a similar proposal today. HB1560 sponsored by by Rep. DJ Bettencourt, a Lamontagne endorser, and Senator Chuck Morse would enter New Hampshire into an interstate compact, block granting Medicare, Medicaid, the Children's Insurance Program, and all other federal funded health care programs.

"As a senior who is enrolled in Medicare, I am deeply opposed to both the bill before the legislature today, and Lamontagne's plan to block grant our Medicare program here in New Hampshire.  This would remove any federal rules, including eligibility, coverage levels, and essential services," said Barbara French of Henniker. "Turning Medicare into a block grant system would put at risk what many people like me enjoy about Medicare, that we can continue our relationship with our own doctors. That's not fair"

"For years, I went to work every day Monday through Friday just like countless others in New Hampshire.  And just like them, I paid my share into Medicare.  I do not want the vital Medicare program that I paid into for years either block granted or ended," added John White of Wolfeboro. "That would put my health care at risk, and health care for thousands of people just like me at risk as well.  I sincerely hope that Mr. Lamontagne reconsiders his position, and urges his Republican colleagues in the House today to vote down this bill."

John White and Barbara French are joined in their opposition by hundreds of New Hampshire residents and voters who have signed a petition calling on the legislature not to block grant Medicare. [Petition]

"Today New Hampshire seniors are calling on Lamontange to renounce his support for ending Medicare in New Hampshire, and asking him to join them in opposing HB1560," said Harrell Kirstein press secretary for the New Hampshire Democratic Party. "Either block granting proposal would end Medicare as we know it and put thousands of New Hampshire senior citizens at risk."

American Principles Project - ICYMI: States seek currencies made of silver and gold

By Blake Ellis @CNNMoney February 3, 2012: 10:53 AM ET

Worried that the Federal Reserve and the U.S. dollar are on the brink of collapse, more than a dozen states have proposed using their own alternative currencies of silver and gold.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- A growing number of states are seeking shiny new currencies made of silver and gold.

Worried that the Federal Reserve and the U.S. dollar are on the brink of collapse, lawmakers from 13 states, including Minnesota, Tennessee, Iowa, South Carolina and Georgia, are seeking approval from their state governments to either issue their own alternative currency or explore it as an option. Just three years ago, only three states had similar proposals in place.

"In the event of hyperinflation, depression, or other economic calamity related to the breakdown of the Federal Reserve System ... the State's governmental finances and private economy will be thrown into chaos," said North Carolina Republican Representative Glen Bradley in a currency bill he introduced last year.

Unlike individual communities, which are allowed to create their own currency -- as long as it is easily distinguishable from U.S. dollars -- the Constitution bans states from printing their own paper money or issuing their own currency. But it allows the states to make "gold and silver Coin a Tender in Payment of Debts."

To the state legislators who are proposing state-issued currencies, that means gold and silver are fair game, said Edwin Vieira, an alternative currency proponent and attorney specializing in Constitutional law. And since gold has grown exponentially more valuable, while the U.S. dollar continues to lose ground, the notion has become increasingly appealing to state lawmakers, he said.

NH Democratic Lawmakers Launch “Don’t Let the GOP End Medicare in NH” Campaign

Concord, NH - Today, Democratic Leadership in the House and Senate launched a campaign to protect Medicare in New Hampshire from the reckless Republican takeover contained in HB1560. The bill sponsored by Republican House Majority Leader DJ Bettencourt and Republican Senate Finance Chair Chuck Morse, but written by out of state special interests, would give the legislature full discretion to raise the eligibility age and slash services for New Hampshire's senior citizens on Medicare.

"In short, this bill will end Medicare as we know it in New Hampshire," said Senator Sylvia Larsen.  "But sadly, it doesn't stop there. It would also take over Medicaid, the Children's Health Insurance Program(CHIP) and other federally funded health care initiatives. Surely you don't have to be a doctor to see this is a disastrous plan for health care in our state."

"This bill puts Tea Party ideology before the best interests of the people of New Hampshire, would cripple Medicare, and is an unconstitutional attempt to supersede federal law," said Representative Terie Norelli. "Unfortunately the sponsors are not backbenchers or freshmen representatives; it is the Republican leadership in both the House and Senate."

"New Hampshire's senior citizens have paid their share into Medicare for decades," said Senator D'Allesandro. "Democrats will not allow this legislature to break the promise made to those hard working men and women."

"Not only does this bill defy common sense, it is the definition of fiscal irresponsibility,"said Representative Mary Jane Wallner. "In tough economic times when Medicaid participation typically increases, New Hampshire taxpayers would see their tax rates skyrocket. This Republican legislature already passed an irresponsible and unbalanced budget that killed nearly 2,000 jobs. Their reckless fiscal policies must be stopped."

New Hampshire Republicans: Don't End Medicare in the Granite State

[Link: http://www.change.org/petitions/new-hampshire-republicans-dont-end-medicare-in-the-granite-state]
As part of their reckless Tea Party agenda, New Hampshire Republicans in Concord want to end Medicare as we know it.

Republican House Majority Leader DJ Bettencourt and Republican Senate Finance Chairman Chuck Morse have sponsored HB1560, which would end Medicare in New Hampshire. Instead of a stable, reliable Medicare plan, seniors would be subjected to a budget process every two years that could slash benefits and services at the whim of the state legislature. The legislature also could choose to eliminate the Children's Health Insurance Program. This irresponsible bill would attempt to nullify federal law and put thousands of Granite State senior citizens and children at risk of losing health insurance and health care services.

We successfully defended Medicare from Republicans in Congress and with your support we will stop Concord Republicans from taking over of Medicare, too.

HB1560 is not only fiscally irresponsible, it also could endanger the health of New Hampshire's senior citizens, disabled and low income residents by eliminating coverage for proven treatments and disease prevention services.  At least 350,000 New Hampshire residents would lose their stable, reliable Medicare and Medicaid coverage.

Even the extremely conservative Union Leader editorial board called the bill "strange" and "convoluted," and argued it violates Article 6 of the U.S. Constitution.  HB1560 would leave discretion for operating Medicare, Medicaid, the Children's Health Insurance Program and other federally funded health care initiatives in the hands of the legislature.  From slashing coverage to raising the eligibility age, every year radical and dangerous changes would be on the table.

NHDP - ICYMI: Compact waste: HB 1560 is frivolous

Concord, NH - Today, the extremely conservative Union Leader editorial board called Republican House Majority Leader Bettencourt and Republican Senate Finance Chair Morse's HB1560 "a frivolity upon which legislators should not waste their time."  HB1560 seeks to "suspend by legislation the operation of all federal laws, rules, regulations, and orders regarding health care" in violation of Article 6, of the U.S. Constitution.

Union Leader Editorial: Compact waste: HB 1560 is frivolous

[Link: http://www.unionleader.com/article/20120124/OPINION01/701249997]

While the Senate prepares to debate a bill (SB 150) that would make a serious stab at improving our health insurance options in New Hampshire, the House holds a public hearing today on a bill that has pretensions of doing the same, but which suffers from delusions of grandeur.

House Bill 1560 is a strange, convoluted attempt to relieve New Hampshire of the burdens imposed by federal health care dictates. The bill would establish the foundation for a multi-state health care compact. The compact's rules would allow all member states to "suspend by legislation the operation of all federal laws, rules, regulations, and orders regarding health care that are inconsistent with the laws and regulations adopted by the member state pursuant to this compact" so the states can regulate health care as they see fit.

There are only two, teeny problems. First, Article 1, Section 10 of the U.S. Constitution forbids states from entering into compacts without the consent of Congress. HB 1560 thereby requests that Congress allow the creation of this compact. Second, Article 6 states that federal laws are the supreme law of the land. HB 1560 has no answer for that one.

Then the coup de grace: HB 1560 declares that states in the compact have a "right" to direct payments "funded by Congress as mandatory spending" to implement, presumably, their own health care laws. The idea that Congress would approve a multi-state compact that lets states ignore federal laws but keep all money intended to implement those laws is preposterous. This bill is a frivolity upon which legislators should not waste their time.
