Shea-Porter to Visit South Porter Street Senior Housing Project in Manchester

Manchester, NH – Thursday, April 8, 2010, Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter will visit the South Porter Street Senior Housing Project in Manchester, New Hampshire at 1:00 p.m.  This housing facility project has created an estimated 62 jobs from funds received through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

Shea-Porter Announces Nearly $325,000 for First District Housing Assistance 

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter today announced that the New Hampshire Housing Finance Authority, Dover Housing Authority, Manchester Housing and Redevelopment Authority, and Laconia Housing and Redevelopment Authority will receive a total of $323,414 through the FY 2009 Housing Choice Voucher – Family Self Sufficiency Program of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.  This grant program is intended to develop local strategies to coordinate the use of assistance under the Housing Choice Voucher programs with public and private resources.

A breakdown of beneficiaries are as follows:  

-New Hampshire Housing Finance Authority: $173,894

-Dover Housing Authority: $85,000

-Manchester Housing and Redevelopment Authority: $44,551

-Laconia Housing and Redevelopment Authority: $19,969

Shea-Porter to Kicks-Off the Rochester Neighborhood Stabilization Project

Rochester, NH – Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter will help kick-off the Neighborhood Stabilization Project in Rochester on Monday, March 1, 2010 at 2:00 p.m.  Rochester received $2.4 million dollars in 2009 from the Neighborhood Stabilization Program, which is administered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.  The federal funding is made possible by the Passage of the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008.  In the 110th Congress, Representative Shea-Porter was proud to help pass this important piece of legislation.  The funding will allow the City of Rochester, in Coordination with the Housing Partnership, to purchase and rehabilitate foreclosed or abandoned properties.  Three properties have already been purchased, and construction will start this spring.  Congresswoman Shea-Porter will tour the property at 65 Lafayette Street.

Shea-Porter Announces More Than $8 Million for Affordable Housing Programs 

WASHINGTON D.C. – Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter today announced that the State of New Hampshire will receive $8,269,787 to resume funding of affordable rental housing projects. This grant is provided through the Tax Credit Assistance Program (TCAP) of the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development, made possible by the passage of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

 

“This grant will allow people to keep a stable roof over their heads and it creates construction jobs,” said Congresswoman Shea-Porter. “It further illustrates the progress of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.”
