STATE OFFICIALS JOIN FORCES TO PROTECT WOMEN IN ABORTION CLINICS WITH AUL MODEL LEGISLATION 

Aftershocks of Lila Rose’s Live Action undercover videos of improprieties behind the doors of some Planned Parenthood clinics continue in Washington, D.C. and across the country. At a Valentine’s Day vigil in front of Planned Parenthood’s national headquarters, AUL’s Dr. Charmaine Yoest joined Lila Rose and others to be a voice for the girls and women devastated by the nation’s largest abortion provider.  Lila Rose is “the Upton Sinclair of the abortion industry who has shown the corruption of the abortion business for what it is, and her work is causing many to call for new protections for women and girls,” Dr. Yoest noted.  Click here to read about the event.
 
As more and more videos have been released, across the country, some states began to take action with the help of AUL’s state experts and AUL’s model legislation for clinic regulation and child protection. Officials in Delaware and Georgia are putting forward bills this week using AUL’s model to ensure that substandard practices, unlicensed practitioners, or dangerous conditions do not harm women and girls in abortion clinics. ONE SMALL STEP FOR MIKE PENCE, ONE GIANT LEAP FOR THE AMERICAN TAXPAYER

On Friday, Rep. Mike Pence (R-IN) introduced in the U.S. House an amendment to a funding bill for the Fiscal 2011 budget to strip Planned Parenthood of millions of tax dollars – and it passed. While not a permanent fix, it was an important symbolic first step.

AUL’s Dr. Yoest called the 240 to 185 vote to De-Fund Planned Parenthood "the best evidence that the House is listening to the majority of Americans who do not want to see their tax dollars go to the bloated abortion industry."  

OBAMA ADMINISTRATION PUSHES CHANGES TO STRIP MEDICAL PRACTITIONERS OF CONSCIENCE PROTECTIONS

As AUL predicted during the health care debates, the Obama administration’s promises to protect the rights of conscience for medical personnel with their paper-thin, executive order were meaningless.

Last week, the Obama Administration rescinded almost all of a 2008 regulation providing enforcement mechanisms for existing federal law protecting the conscience rights for medical professionals – except the provision to file a complaint with the Office of Civil Rights at the Department of Health and Human Services. 

“AUL predicted that the rights of conscience of medical professionals could be violated without stronger protections,” said Dr. Yoest. “This must come to an end.  No longer should the civil rights of medical professionals be held hostage to political interests. This broken promise underscores the necessity for Congressional action; health care providers must have an effective means to enforce their rights written in the law.”

IN MEMORIAM:
REMEMBERING DR. BERNARD NATHANSON

AUL notes with sorrow that pro-life champion Dr. Bernard Nathanson passed away this week. A pivotal pro-life figure, Dr. Nathanson was once a leading abortionist who presided over 75,000 abortions and become a founding member of prominent pro-abortion organizations, but he later denounced his former colleagues and profession to embrace the pro-life cause and to work against the brutal abortion industry.

Dr. Yoest noted:  “Dr. Nathanson was a beacon of uncompromising truth into the horrifying reality of abortion.  The courage and honesty of his seminal works, ‘Aborting America’ and ‘The Silent Scream,’ have brought America demonstrably closer to the day when Roe v. Wade is overturned and everyone is welcomed in life and protected in law. His work informs many of AUL’s efforts to expose the lies of abortion and the chilling depths to which pro-abortion advocates remain willing to stoop to realize their goals.  

“We are indebted to him and will strive to honor and advance his enormous legacy. But there is no doubt that his greatest legacy will be found in lives saved because he told the truth about abortion and about the lies of an industry employs in a brutal and ugly business.”

AFP - Join Cong. Mike Pence For Health Care Tele-Town Hall Tonight

How can you tell when a president is in trouble on a big issue? 

When politicians of his own party avoid appearing with him when he's in their home area.

Take yesterday. President Obama appeared in the Philadelphia suburbs to once again campaign for his health care takeover.  He delivered the usual falsehoods - for example, Fox News reported that the president claimed $868 billion in savings that is simply a made-up number. He promised that his plan will not cost small businesses more, when everyone knows costs will skyrocket on small businesses.

And three Democrat congressmen from the Philly area - Murphy, Carney and Holden - did not appear with the president from their own party. 

These three Democrats did not stand beside President Obama on their home turf, despite the fact that Obama carried Pennsylvania and their region in the 2008 election. 

They know what we know: The American people have turned against this corrupt Washington health care takeover. The polls clearly show it, with every reputable poll showing strong majorities against the legislation. These congressmen have their ears to the ground in their districts, and they hear the powerful grassroots anger. It’s anger against the president's arrogance in continuing to push a health care takeover while ignoring job losses and a still-faltering economy, despite the fact that the American people have clearly said, “Keep Your Hands Off My Health Care.”

We're just days away from a crucial vote in the House of Representatives. Despite all the big talk from Speaker Pelosi and the liberals, they STILL DO NOT HAVE THE VOTES to pass their health care takeover.

Wednesday, at 8 p.m. ET we're holding a national tele-town hall meeting with the 3rd ranking Republican in the House and a leading free-market champion - Congressman Mike Pence. I hope you'll join us. Call (888) 356-3090 Ext.14326#.

Here's the bottom line. The president is in the midst of his final all-out push for his health care takeover. Yes, his campaign is dishonest and over-the-top. But, to their credit they are refusing to quit this fight. So, we've got to beat them in these final days before the House vote.

They've put everything on the line for their ideology, as flawed as it is. 

The question for us is:  will we do the same for our values, our freedoms and our nation?

Knowing what I know about Americans like us, I believe the answer will be a resounding YES.

Hillsborough Co GOP Lincoln-Reagan Event in March with Congressman Mike Pence

Bedford, New Hampshire - February 4, 2010 - In his first visit to the Granite state, Congressman Mike Pence (R-Indiana) will be the keynote speaker for The Hillsborough County Republican Committee’s 2010 Lincoln-Reagan Gala Reception and Dinner.  Tickets went on sale today for the event to be held at CR Sparks in Bedford on Friday, March 19^th.  The event will begin with a cocktail reception at 5:30 p.m. followed by a dinner at 7:00 p.m.

“We are very excited to be hosting Congressman Pence on his first visit to New Hampshire.  This will be a great opportunity for Granite Staters to hear from Congressman Pence who holds the third ranking position in House Republican leadership in Washington DC,” said Hillsborough County GOP Chairman Stephen Stepanek.
