Lamontagne for US Senate - Ovide's Oath - Line Item Veto

Ovide's Oath:
Line Item Veto

I pledge that I will introduce legislation establishing a constitutional Line-Item Veto for the President. The Governors of 43 states have this essential tool to veto individual examples of wasteful pork-barrel spending. It is time the President is given the same tool, to help eliminate budget busting spending programs.

Jennifer Horn For Congress - Signs the "Repeal It!' Pledge

NASHUA - Jennifer Horn, Republican Candidate for Congress, announced today that she signed the "Repeal It! Pledge.

"While the President is signing the Health Care bill into law, he should know that his victory will be short lived. Americans are angry at the arrogance and abuse of power displayed by the President and Congress. Since they chose to ignore  us and pass a bill that Americans overwhelmingly rejected, we will make our voices heard this November," said Horn. "It is time for a new day in Washington: new voices and a renewed dedication to our founding principles"

Horn concluded: "I am proud to sign this pledge and encourage everyone who stands for the cause of freedom to sign the pledge as well. I promise to the voters of the 2nd District that if elected to Congress, I will introduce and fight for legislation that would effect an immediate repeal of this terrible legislation."

NHGOP STATEMENT ON GOV LYNCH BREAKING HIS WORD AND LEGALIZING SAME-SEX MARRIAGE

CONCORD – Today, former New Hampshire Governor and Republican State Committee Chairman John H. Sununu released the following statement on Governor Lynch breaking his word and legalizing same-sex marriage:

“Up until the very last minute I had hoped that Governor Lynch would keep his word and veto the same-sex marriage bill. Unfortunately the Governor has let down the people of New Hampshire by making a calculated political decision and failing to honor his commitment.

“What makes this situation even more disappointing is that the Senate had to break their rules to get this bill to the Governor’s desk. This makes it tainted legislation all around.”

CPR-Action - Launches new TV ad, "His Word"

Concord – Today, CPR-Action in conjunction with the National Organization for Marriage launched the new television ad, "His Word".

Commenting on the ad, CPR-Action Executive Director, Kevin Smith, stated, “From the very moment the Governor introduced thisamendment, we believed he did so as cover for having flipped his position on gay marriage. Muchlike the "religious amendment"madeto HB 436 in the Senate, the Governor and Legislature are playing politcs by crafting sham amendments as excuses to vote for gay marriage andpretending to placatethe religious community at the same time. If they were truly concerned about thecitizens' religious beliefs, they would have included language that coversthe conscience of private individuals and business owners who oppose gay marriage because of such."

Smith added, "The bottom line here is the Governor needs to stop playing politics withgay marriage. He said he would veto it if his language did not pass, which it didn't. It is timefor the Governor tofinally keep his word, vetothis legislation, and get on with the real work of the state."

The newad begins airingThursday, 5/28,on cable and network affiliate,WMUR,in New Hampshire, and willcontinue through Sunday, 5/31.

NH Senate Republicans on Gas Tax

Senate Republicans Praise Governor Lynch's Gas Tax Veto Pledge

Concord, NH - Today, Senate Republicans praised Governor Lynch for promising to veto the state budget if it contains a gas tax increase.

"We applaud Governor Lynch for his stance against a gas tax increase in these very difficult economic times," said Deputy Minority Leader Bob Odell (R-Lempster). "Gas prices are going up every day, and with the start of the summer tourist season at hand, the last thing New Hampshire residents and visitors need is state government reaching into their wallets every time they stop for gas. Less money in people's wallets means less money to spend at local businesses which makes it even harder to get New Hampshire citizens back to work."

Senate Republicans also called on Governor Lynch to broaden his veto pledge.

"Governor Lynch should pledge to veto the budget if it contains any new taxes," said Senate Minority Leader Peter Bragdon (R-Milford). "Increasing taxes would further burden New Hampshire families in a down economy and would do nothing to cure the state's spending addiction."
