CONCORD – On the eve of Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to New Hampshire, a review of 846 congressional votes taken this year shows that Reps. Carol Shea-Porter and Paul Hodes vote identically 98 percent of the time, and with Speaker Pelosi 99 percent of the time.
“Shea-Porter and Hodes have become the Pelosi Twins. Instead of being independent voices for New Hampshire, they’ve been rubber stamps for Speaker Pelosi and the Democratic leadership in Washington,” said Republican Party Chairman, Fergus Cullen.
Cullen recalled Shea-Porter’s April statement about her support for Speaker Pelosi’s agenda: “And so far I have voted I think 100 percent of the time with (Democratic leaders) because frankly I think they're 100 percent right.” (“Shea-Porter, Hodes Follow Pelosi’s Lead,” Concord Monitor, April 15, 2007, http://www.cmonitor.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070415/REPOSITORY/704150346/1217/NEWS98)
“I challenge Rep. Hodes and Rep.Shea-Porter to name just two points on which they disagree with Speaker Pelosi. Just two, to show they have any independence at all,”Cullen said.
