This President And Vice President Should Be Impeached

A long, long time ago, the New Hampshire State Legislature debated a resolution to ask Congress to impeach President Richard Nixon.  It was 1973, and just a couple of dozen members of the Legislature voted for the bill.   I was a young member of the House that year, and I was one of those House members standing in favor of the impeachment resolution.  It remains today as one of my golden memories.  Those of us who took that vote did the right thing.
.
To me and others at that time, it was clear that the "I Am Not A Crook" President had lied, and had covered up his lie, and had participated in wrongdoing that put America's democracy in harm's way.
.
I won't have any doubt about it being the right thing to do when I vote this coming Wednesday in favor of Representative Betty Hall's resolution calling for the United States Congress to begin an investigation regarding the impeachment of President George W. Bush and Vice President Richard Cheney.
.

Why?  Because just like President Nixon, the current occupant of the White House has lied, had tried to cover it up, and has participated in wrongdoing that has put American's democracy in harm's way.  And HIS lies have resulted in the deaths of more than 4,000 American soldiers, and hundreds of thousands of other men, women, and children. The horror of it all.

Fortunately, this man and his alter ego will be put out of the White House in January.  But neither deserve to journey into history without the asterisk that there were efforts in various states to encourage Congress to impeach them.  As they leave the White House, the past has shown us that former Presidents usually go onto even richer lives and fame.  This one doesn't deserve it. Nor does his partner.  Their legacy should be shame.

I don't "hate" the President or the Vice President.  That would be wasted energy on my part, and the fact is that many millions of good Americans put them into office and I can't hate all of them.  But I certainly can hate what they do, and I am angry at what they did by getting us into a war that didn't have to be fought, and that has created problems for us in that part of the world -- in fact, throughout the world.

The resolution is being recommended to be killed by the State-Federal Relations and Veterans Affairs Committee by a vote of 10-5.  NH State Representative Betty Hall, to me and to many others, is an American hero.  She seeks to bring justice to two people who are not.

I'd like to impeach Pelosi and Murtha for crimes against democracy worldwide and conspicuous dhimmitude. What have they got against Colombia and Turkey anyway?

Yippee! Impeach the president and vice president! Legalize pot for all! Abortions for minors! 20% spending increase! Homosexual marriage! Yippee!!

Ima -- I'm so pleased to excite you so much! And the Democrats I know don't want to legalize pot -- just decriminalize small amounts so we can focus our law-enforcement resources on serious crime; they're in favor of quality sex education to keep unwanted pregnancies down; they're for efficiency in government, and are making such cost-savings in a state bureaucracy run by Republicans for decades; and they support equality for all of our New Hampshire citizens. Yippee!

Too late Jim. You've already established yourself as a hate filled nutball who probably still hasn't gotten over the election of 2000. Get used to the flak.

Well, Rowland! I for one wouldn't ever call anyone a "hate filled nutball," and that means it's not my reflection you see in your mirror.

Isn't it great that with our state sinking into debt unknowing how it's going to cover it's record spending increases and our state education system failing listing many of our schools as schools in need of improvement that our state reps really focus on the important things like impeaching a president who will be out of office in a few months and who is essentually a lame duck president with the other party controlling both the house and senate under him. We clearly see were the state's democrats priorities lie.

Yes Richard -- the Democrats' priorities are with Truth, Justice, and the American Way.
