Let me preface by saying I'm not a fan of the Red Sox, I'm a die hard Yankee fan and have been since I first started watching baseball so read on knowing I'm bias against the Sox.
I turned on my radio this morning to listen to the news and low and behold they are discussing the Sox clinching the wild card. The Sox have lost 7 of their last 10 games and I saw before bed last night they had lost their 5th game in a row but the Rangers lost their last 3 games in a row allowing the Sox to clinch by default.
I don't know about you but if my team backed into a victory for the wild card by default by having the other team lose while my own team continue to lose I wouldn't be tooting my own horn. Instead of playing humble the Sox came back to Fenway Park 3 hours after their loss to crack open bottles of champagne. Really guys?
Celebrating because you lost less then the other guy is about as dim witted a move as politicians who think that by beating a wildly unpopular opponent that the public actually voted for you rather then against the other guy. Just be humble and happy your there for the short term until the big boys step up to the plate and send you back home.
