Freddy Mac And Fanny Mae Who Oh Who Do They Pay?
Thursday, September 18, 2008 at 11:50AM Open Secrets posted a list of political contributions from Freddy Mac and Fanny Mae. It's quite interesting seeing who falls in where on the list as far as receiving the most political donations. Here are the highlights of the top 20.
#1 Chirstopher Dodds.
#2 Barack Obama
#3 John Kerry
#12 Hillary Clinton
#18 Nancy Pelosi
Keep in mind this list consists of all political donations from 1989 to 2008 so not only is where they fall on the list important but also how long they have been around on the political scene.

Interesting post, but somewhat misleading. Open Secrets combines contributions from Fannie Mae's PAC with contributions from individuals. If you worked for Fannie Mae and gave $200 to John McCain, that would get counted as a contribution from Fannie Mae.
Obama got $126K from Fannie. Of this, $6K was from the company's PAC and the rest from individuals who work for the company. I don't if the remaining $120K was from 50 or so management types giving the max or a lot of the $20, $30, or $50 contributors that have made Obama's campaign so unique. I suspect the latter, because the same pattern holds for Kerry
I assume you want the readers to see the full scope of campaign giving by Fannie mae, and you only included prominent Dems because your fingers got tired. Here is a more complete list:
from PAC employees
Dodd, Christopher D $48,500 $116,900
Obama, Barack D $6,000 $120,349
Kerry, John D $2,000 $109,000
Bennett, Robert R $71,499 $36,500
Bachus, Spencer R $70,500 $32,800
Blunt, Roy H R $78,500 $18,450
Kanjorski, Paul D $57,500 $38,500
Bond, Christopher R $64,000 $31,400
Shelby, Richard R $23,000 $57,000
Reed, Jack D $43,500 $34,750
Reid, Harry D $60,500 $16,500
Clinton, Hillary D $8,000 $68,050
Davis, Tom R $13,999 $61,500
Boehner, John R $60,500 $7,250
Conrad, Kent D $22,000 $42,491
Reynolds, Tom R $53,000 $9,200
Johnson, Tim D $20,000 $41,000
Pelosi, Nancy D $47,000 $9,250
May as well then point out that McCain did make the list as well, #61 or #62 down (lost my count when I had to scroll so I might be off).
He took in $0 from PAC donations and $21,550 from private donations in all his time in office.
It should also be noted that PAC donations are limited to only $5k per election (read that slow, per ELECTION, not per year). http://www.fec.gov/pages/brochures/contriblimits.shtml To get around that groups like the ones we are discussing here can make donations through private individuals.
Now consider Obama has only 1 term as a senator and is now running for president... that only gives him 2 elections to have collected any PAC donations.
And considering Obama claims he's NOT taking PAC money...

"Obama has made a point of not accepting money from political action committees"
makes one wonder what else he's lying about?
