RINO OF THE YEAR!

Representative Julie "The Mad Hatter" Brown, Strafford, District 1 is the RINO of the Year based on three separate polls!

I was certain when I started these polls that Ken Gould would win. But Julie Brown left Ken in the dust and was overwhelmingly chose by over 300 participants in the polls. In the coming days, I will looking more closely at what  drove the selection...But I have be honest...I would have selected her myself. Aside from other RINO's, none has demonstrated such flippant arrogance and elitism as Julie Brown has.

THE ARROGANCE

THE RINO REPORT

“Remember that a government big enough to give you everything you want is also big enough to take away everything you have.” ~Barry Goldwater

This weeks RINO OF THE WEEK is 15-term Representative Phyllis M. Katsakiores, Rockingham District 5, Derry. I had to carefully mull over the choices because over the past months the blog has covered very clear examples of RINOism.

I personally like Rep. Kataskiores. I met her once back in 1982 as a high schooler at Pinkerton Academy. She has an otherwise decent and respectable voting record, save for the fact that she signed the pledge to support right to work and then voted against it.

With the choices being so tight, a feat such as this made the choice clear, despite her NHHRA rating of 87%. With the job market currently attenuated by the disastrous policies of the Obama Administration, our locally elected people need to create those conditions that best enable all people to be employed. Opposing Right to Work  does not do that. Summarily,  it is for that reason Rep. Katsakiores is this week's RINO OF THE WEEK.

RINO OF THE WEEK REPORT

“Remember that a government big enough to give you everything you want is also big enough to take away everything you have.” ~Barry Goldwater

The RINO of the week is House Representative Richard B. Drisko, Hillsborough District 5. Rep. Drisko's voting record contains a few of the typical rank and file RINO votes such as votes against HB 125Lawful commerce in Firearms, CACR 9, HB329 The parental notification bill; and, HB519 the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative repeal.

And while the aforementioned votes above might point toward RINOism in and of themselves, the thing that put Representative over the top for RINO of the Week selection are his communications with constituents regarding SB88 where Drisko used many of Governor Lynch's talking points and "wild, wild west-type references. That distinction earned him the RINO of the Week award.

Pandering and demagoguing is a sure-fire fast track method to making the RINO-of-the-Week list....Congratulations, Dick!

RHINO'S VERSUS "RINO'S"

"A hypocrite is the kind of politician who would cut down a redwood tree, then mount the stump and make a speech for conservation." —Adlai E. Stevenson

Following my recent RINO OF THE WEEK report, an amused reader and friend inquired, "Isn't the RINO one of the world's deadliest animals? Or is that the hippo..."

 Pondering this for a minute, I juxtaposed the question concerning the herbivorious, odd-toed ungulate native to Africa and parts of Asia: The "Rhinoceros".  versus Political RINO's....an acronym for, "Republican In Name Only,".

While "Rhinos" are related to the horse, zebra, and tapir; are known for their bad eyesight, good hearing, and mud-rolling. RINO's, on the other hand, are ambiguous about who they are related to...some show a Republican-leaning while others a full out leftist Democrat leaning. RINO-eyesight is through rose-colored glasses and instead of rolling in the mud, they sling mud. That sums it up for me, Nevertheless my response was as follows:

  •  "Rhino"...(short for Rhinoceros) lives only on the continent of Africa and some parts of Asia...While the American RINO can be found everywhere in America.
  • The "Rhino" is a mild-mannered animal that only charges when threatened, unlike the "RINO" who will throw everybody under a bus to achieve his or her own end.
  •  Rhinos wallow in mud to protect their sensitive skin from sunburn and insect bites, while "RINO's" throw mud, burn conservatives and bite the hands of their constituents.
  •  A "Rhino" dung pile can stand up to three feet high, while RINO Bullsh*t keeps piling higher and deeper with no clear end in sight until tossed from office.
  • The world's rhino population has decreased 90% since 1970 (due to poaching) While the American "RINO" population has increased 250% since 1994 due to the contemporary concepts of "integrity and honesty" and the self-serving amorality of those who run with an R next to their name because with a "D" they cannot get elected....
  • Rhinos use dung (poop!) to communicate with other rhinos...So do RINO's...when the American RINO speaks, the bullsh*t really flies....

So, Rhinos can be deadly, but left alone they are quite serene..."RINOs", on the other hand, can be destructive, leaving the Republican party divided and on the ash heap of defeat under the heavy and burdensome yoke of statist and socialist policies. RINO's have an unfulfilled need to be liked by everybody and will sacrifice their own to achieve that.

RINO's (either directly-like Peter Leishman used to do before he crossed over... or indirectly, like those in the RINO report do ) collude with leftist-progressive Democrats to divide the party, paralyze the party platform irrespective of the vote to adopt it, and fancy themselves as the smartest people in the room. Finally, RINO's frequently tell lies.

RINO OF THE WEEK REPORT

“Remember that a government big enough to give you everything you want is also big enough to take away everything you have.” ~Barry Goldwater

This week's Rino of the Week Report is two days overdue. We have now moved into that area of RINO-dom where we are now looking at "RINO-esque" house votes versus overall house vote performance. Prior RINO-of-the Week selections were pretty clear.  Republicans adhering to the party platform were very easy to distinguish from those who ran as Republicans, yet vote consistently with liberals. Now we are in that area where the constituents must decide if the Rep voted "RINO? of if the Rep is a RINO overall. At any rate, ROTW will continue to decide who the RINO is for the present week and the constituents can decide the rest.

In this next shade of the RINO Report, we now examine some house members whose records may show adherence to the party platform, but go off the reservation on key social and fiscal issues like the budget, parental notification or important gun and self-defense bills. Those Republicans we will now focus on.

Another reason the RINO Report is late because there were three likely choices for selection. And despite the lameness of my excuse, Archery Deer Season is now underway and Pheasant Season opened yesterday so this writer, "had the fever."  Sorry, but that's just the way it is. Anywho...

After much thought and careful reflection,  Ten-term Representative Patricia A. Dowling (R-Derry) Rockingham District 5, is this week's RINO OF THE WEEK.   Representative Dowling garners a score of  64% rating from the NHHRA.

  • Voted against HB 125  a law that would support the right of the Granite State to regulate firearms within its sovereign borders as a state;
  • Voted against HB474 (2/15/11)Which would end Labor Union's ability to compel non-union workers from paying agency fees as a condition of employment;
  • Voted against CACR 9 affirming that parental rights are a natural right; "Provides that parents have the natural right to control the health, education, and welfare of their children."
  • Voted against HB133 to override the Governor's veto of eliminating a state minimum wage. With the Federal minimum wage standard in place, a demonstrated preference for a Bay-state like statist wage mandates.

 Representative Dowling may not be considered to be a rank and file RINO like Ken Gould, David Kidder, Alida Millham or Julie Brown, but she shares collective RINO responsibility with these other serious RINO's in the above-votes shown.  Which makes Representative Dowling this week's RINO OF THE WEEK.
