Clear as Vodka

When a prominent friend of the Obama’s comes under scrutiny by an independent inspector general charged with protecting the use of stimulus funds dispersed to various AmeriCorps programs, you’d expect the most transparent and ethical administration in history—the transformational dynasty of we are the ones we’ve been waiting for—to let the process take it’s a-political course. You might even stand behind your own legislation designed to pr otect Inspectors general from the pressure of political forces so that they would continue to be free to exercise their judgment and authority in discharging your duties…

..or you could be president Hope and change, and have an aide call the IG who was investigating your family friend and give them one hour to resign before they were fired.

That’s what happened to Gerald Walpin, Inspector General of the corporation charged with oversight of AmeriCorps, who reminded the aide that Obama’s own legislation required a list of reasons for dismissal and 30 days for congressional review prior to the removal of any IG from office by the executive branch.

Sounds like the 5 day rule, or the 48 hour rule, or the lobbyist rule, or the pay as you go rule, or just about every other rule this administration has instituted then broken or bent. (Because they never meant to follow them in the first place) Transparency, communication, ethics, all a sham clearly visible thorough the bottom of the shot glass.

Walpin is not, however going quietly into that good night. He refused to resign, was let go and is now pressing his case—not for his own job—but to protect the process that Obama himself put in place to prevent the very thing Obama has just done.

It’s good to see someone standing up for Obama’s declared principles, because Obama has no intention of doing so, and as long as Democrats and the media refuse to expect anything from him, we will continue to get nothing back.  That's clear as Vodka.
