On December 22nd Jeanne Shaheen and three other ladies of the Senate posted a letter to the Secretary of Defense. Why? The commander of American forces in Northern Iraq issued a series of prohibitions, including one against pregnancy for all operational personnel under his command, and promised equal punishment for anyone, man or woman, who got someone pregnant.
Change we can expect
“The idea was that we’d show that the Bush Administration had had far worse missteps than we ever could,” says a staffer in the counsel’s office. “We were told that classified material involving anything related to al Qaeda operating in Yemen or Nigeria was fair game and that we’d declassify it if necessary.”
“This White House doesn’t view the Northwest [Airlines] failure as one of national security, it’s a political issue,” says the White House source. “That’s why Axelrod and Emanuel are driving the issue.”
On Christmas Eve Freddie and Fannie got the best Christmas present of all; unlimited funding from the treasury without further interference from congress. Treasury can now spend our money on them anyway they please, and since they have not changed their tack--even after the last housing bubble--expect non stop bailouts of the money losers to continue without oversight of any kind.
Farouk Umal Abdultumallahd never had his US visa revoked, even after his father reported him. Well, maybe now, but then he's already here isn't he.
Finally National Review reports that the DC scholarship program--the one that got cut by democrats and then rehabed after some justified public outrage--has been hamstrung by the democrat majority again. This time they buried a provision in a recent spending bill that prohibits any new students from joining the program. Every year the number of students will decline until there are barely enough to justify supporting it at all.
Freddie and Fannie get a blank check, non existant global warming gets 100 billion, but innercity school kids get screwed for no other reason than hypocritical democrats beholden to the Teachers unions who (by the way) are not hurting for money at all.
