Please Pass On The Salt--Or Else!

The FDA introduced another Obama Administration job killing initiative today.  This time it's against the salt industry.  Proposed over-regulations would require food manufacturers to use less salt.  Failing to comply could result in anything from excessive finger-wagging to a media war not unlike those waged against big oil, insurance companies, greedy doctors, Wall Street Fat Cats and Big bankers, Republicans,  FOX News, you--if you ever received a bonus, the pharmaceutical industry, energy companies, pro-life groups, anyone who owns has owned or ever will own a gun, video game makers, whoever it was that gave a sandwich to the overweight kid, the US constitution, victims of Bill Clinton's sex drive, and the Tea Party.  And a mandatory reduction in salt use will have a mandatory reduction in salt production, costing average Americans jobs.

But don't feel bad.  These previously employed persons (PEP) will have plenty of opportunity to get a job with the US government when it rolls out phase two of the plan---residential salt inspectors.

So what's worse?  That I could kid about something like this, or that you just read that and thought it possible, even likely?

Welcome to change.

I called this one when the Democrats first started pushing government health care. If you and I are forced by the point of a government gun to fund someone else's medical treatment then the next logical step is to also use that government gun to force that person to eat and stay healthy.

Honestly I would love to see Republicans take this ball and run with it. Force every single person who takes a penny of government money for their health care to maintain a strict diet and healthy lifestyle.

Richard -- we've had Medicare for a few decades now. Have your "fears" of that "next step" of the government forcing seniors to eat and stay healthy been met? No, instead we have seniors who have some level of health care which, without Medicare, they would have been denied. There have been no "death panels" either. President Obama's health care is an expansion of a program designed to help people and keep Americans healthier -- and a healthy population is a smart thing to do to keep America strong. The paranoria of those against health insurance reform is based in politics more than logic.
