What About Social Issues?

I've been hearing a good deal of input on the matter of social issues.  Some moderates or independents, are claiming that this is not the election to waste time on social issues.  Fiscal issues are the way to go.  And they may be right superficially.  But I feel compelled to make a point here that might throw a monkey wrench in that recommendation.

Governments role is to defend natural rights.  When it exceeds that objective it has ventured into social engineering of the kind democrats are spending trillions of dollars on.  Those trillions are our trillions so no discussion of fiscal malfeasance can avoid the social consequences--either of continuing to spend what we do not have or of denying services to people whom the democrats insist need them.

You see.  The left has politicized nearly everything and (tried at least) to move its regulation under the umbrella of the federal government where it requires a budget and a staff and more of your money.

So maybe someone can tell me which social issues are not fiscal issues, and I'll decide if I'm prepared to leave them out of the 2010 election.
