US House kills TARP

The House, in a bi-partisan vote, shut down  8 Billion in TARP funding with an eye towards lowering the Federal deficit.

“The money from this program doesn’t go to the homeowner, it goes to the lender, it goes to the banks.  And who pays for it?  The taxpayers and ultimately our children and grandchildren, because the federal government borrows 42 cents of every dollar it spends,” said Financial Services Committee Chairman Spencer Bachus (R.-Ala.).

The Democrat controlled Senate will likely obstruct passage but if it does get past Harry Reid's democrat majority bivouac Obama has already promised to veto the spending cuts and allowBank bailouts billions in taxpayer dollars to continue to go to big banks and big bankers--despite the programs continued failure to keep people in their homes.

I'd be interested to hear the rhetoric from Political consultant and former congressman Paul Hodes who claimed he was against TARP but voted to spend paid back TARP funds on other left-wing stimuli.  Likewise for 2012 congressional candidate Carol Seiu-Porter, also big on anti TARP rhetoric but bigger on redistribution of TARP funds as directed by her party leadership, with very little regard for the obvious hypocrisy or objection by her own constituents.

Do they support killing off TARP, or are they in favor of continuing to pump billions of taxpayer deficit dollars into the hands of rich bankers?

Can You Name This NH Rep?

In the world as it really is, there are people in positions of power--even power as divided as the New Hampshire State Legislature--who feel entitled to special treatment.  These 'perks' come in all forms.  The one pictured above is the ability or 'right' to park in a no parking zone without fear of repercussion.

This particular "special person" makes a habit of parking in the no parking zone of the legislative parking lot regularly.  The local peace officers have not been willing to ticket or tow this individuals vehicle--something they would have no qualms doing if it were a car owned by one of the other millions of residents, their friends, or acquaintances--because they are a member of the general court.

Last time I checked--back when Brian Poznanski (D-Nashua) was violating his oath of office in front of 23 people at a house party (or maybe that should be 'House' party) in Bedford--members of the general court are requied to follow the laws, even ones they did not themselves vote to enact.

So....can you name the state legislator?

621 House members Carol?

This is just embarrassing.  Someone in her office should call 911.  Maybe they can send them a proof reader.

Press release.

Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter today voted for the Job Creation through Entrepreneurship Act of 2009. This legislation, which passed the House 406 to 215, will help small businesses by modernizing the Small Business Administration's (SBA) entrepreneurial development program and implementing commonsense reforms that will help ensure taxpayer dollars are spent wisely.

Emphasis mine.

She clearly has about as much involvement in the writing and proofing of press releases as she does reading legislation.  Is there an actual congresswoman representing us down there, or is Carol just the front man (woman) for whatever band of illiterate lunatics is actually representing us?  May I make a suggestion?  How about Paris Hilton?  She's stupid and proud of it, and while I'm not a fan, she's a bit easier on the eyes.

The bill in question is HR 2352.  Carol was not a sponsor or cosponsor.  She was just there.  Ooh, lets write a press release!!

For the record it passed 406 to 15.    Just about everyone loved this bill. For the record the 15 dissenters were all Republicans, including a nod to the pro liberty crowd--Rep Ron Paul voted against it as well.

Rep Hodes did vote in favor but did not issue a press release.  Apparently he doesn't feel like this would be all that impressive a vote for him to publicize.  Too bad, whoever pulls Carol's strings thought this would do her some good.  You might want to grab a cup of tea and rethink that.
