Peter "No Parking" Schmidt

After a mis-cue yesterday on the identity, we now know that Rep Peter Schmidt (Strafford-4) is the serial parking violator in the picture.  And no, the availability of spaces does not seem top be a factor.

Mr. Schmidt is a good liberal sticking to the anti-liberty line who clearly finds his need to be somewhere more important than something as trivial as No Parking zones.  In Mr. Schmidt's defense, he appears to be handicapped---he's listed as a university professor.  If that is true that makes him special.  Isn't he special?  If he does have any physical handicaps, which I doubt given that he is parking in the no parking zone by the stairs, he might demonstrate some of that superior intellect and years of leadership as an elected representative, and make other arrangements.

Who am I kidding.  A NH liberal planning for a future other than the one they have imagined for you--like the series of fictions known as "revenue estimates" to justify lavish spending--is almost unheard of.  And Mr. Schmidt is a good liberal. (He is supposed to be a professor right?)

His liberty rating is a D-, though it will be of interest to conservatives that between 2009 and 2010 he took a hard right turn.  His NH House Republican Rating went from 9% to 17%.  But he can still get it back in line, and I'm sure he's already had a good talking to.

Seriously, despite the lousy parking situation in Concord, Peter Schmidt needs to get out of his white tower a bit earlier and park like all the other voices of the people, in a parking space.

Democrat Protester Spotted At Rally

And I bet he left that plastic cup sitting on the monument for someone else to clean up.  Truth be told, a more likely scenario --even for this life size cardboard standee double of our governor--would be for him to let someone else make the mess, for him to sanction it, and then call it leadership when he has to make "the hard decisions" after the fact to try and fix it.  This is what passes for leadership in the democrat party here in New Hampshire.

No one on the left was squawking about unrealistic revenue projections during--what does the NHDP line card call it, the worst recession since the great depression---when they had to imagine all that money to justify the spending they wanted, not needed.  But now that it is time to make the difficult decision, (as in they now need to cut back on the spending they wanted) we are supposed to stand in awe?

Sorry.  Not happening.

Leadership is the ability to make the difficult decions when it is inconvenient not just when you are up for re-election and need to appear like you can actually make tough choices.  If Lynch had that tool in his little tool box, he'd have told his democrat legislature to dial back the growth of state government  in both previous budgets knowing full well that if they did not, he'd have to make a promise--new state jobs and expanded services--that he could never keep.  Let's just call that another Lynch lie shall we?

Mr. Lynch has been hiding behind the democrat run-us into-the-ground legislature for years--not all that difficult considering--and he knows that they will object to any cuts he proposes.  If at all possible, he'd prefer to let them take the heat--divided up over a larger number of representatives--so he can claim he at least tried to cut spending.  If it fails, it's not his fault.

That's a trait of cowards, not leaders.

Not A Black Man In Sight?

I was listening to Jim and Marjorie on the way into work this morning, (WTKK) and a gentleman called in with some concerns that the Tea Party might in fact have some racist undertones.  He mentioned a few signs he saw at a New Hampshire Tea Party event he went to that made him uncomfortable, nothing racist, just your standard refreshing the tree of liberty/ pro second amendment stuff.  (He did not mention when or where the event was while I was listening but I take him at his word.)  When asked the money question, "did you at any point feel like there was some racist sentiment," the gentleman suggested that there was, and he seemed to base this on the fact that he was the only black man there.

This is an interesting notion.  I can't fault him for thinking it.  Being from Massachusetts he may not have known this, but the absence of African American’s at a New Hampshire Tea Party is as likely as the absence of African Americans from a lot of happening around the Granite State.  It’s not racist.  It’s a statistical fact.

New Hampshire has a black population below 2%.  So what do blacks have against New Hampshire? Is it low because we are all a bunch of gun toting racists?  Some people might say that, but I doubt it.  The NHDP has been selling NH as the new Blue liberal utopia since 2006 and wrecking the state economy as a matter of principle,  so given the dynamics of that argument the place should be teeming with diversity but it’s not.  We can take this several different ways, but white racism doesn’t cut it.

African Americans overwhelmingly vote democrat. They voted 88% for democrats in 2004, and significantly more so in 2008.  So while there are democrats at tea party events,  they are less likely to attend if they are white, or blue, or green, or any other color because they are democrats;  they do not object to the spending and deficits, so why would a fraction of a fraction  of them make the trip?

African Americans probably feel some degree of peer pressure to avoid objecting to Mr. Obama regardless of their feelings about his political agenda.  This is not measurable, certainly not by me, but I’ve been subjected to union pressure to conform, and everyone has felt peer pressure, so it is just as likely that this works against participation further, even if someone wanted to attend a Tea Party event or get involved in fighting the progressive left wing agenda.

And at most, maybe one forth of the country publicly aligns with the Tea Party movement itself--as in, actually attends events.

So given these statistics, 24% of the population of which 1.2% in New Hampshire is black--but votes 90% democrat, and is encouraged not to object to the liberal assault on American liberty, the odds that you will see an African American in New Hampshire protesting at a Tea Party event falls below that of getting struck by lightning.   Maybe that's even a high estimate.

Racism has nothing to do with it.

So are there racists in New Hampshire.  Yes. And we’ll probably get to meet a few tomorrow if they decide to pretend to be with the Tea Party.  Remember racism is a job pro-liberty folks just won’t do, so the left has to import them from a foreign party--their own.  Of course if they actually act like they are with the tea party, you won’t be able to differentiate them from the crowd of enthusiastic, well behaved, patriotic Americans who could care less what color their president is because their money is all the same color.  What they object to is not the man, his color, not even to the color of the hundreds of stupid white members of congress who rammed through massive deficit increases and an unwanted trillion dollar social programs...

...It is the grotesque government incompetence, arrogance, disregard for public opinion, and outright greed that the liberals in the democrat party are perpetrating upon everyone at the expense of generations of Americans.   It's the spending stupid.

If The Racist Shoe Fits

The people who insisted that the TEA Party movement did not exist, that it would never amount to much, that it was just a flash in the pan movement, that it was just a few disgruntled right wingers, that it was run by the Republican party, that it answered to Rush Limbaugh, and that it was a bunch of hate filled racists and homophobes, are so desperate to prove it that they are prepared to infiltrate the crowds on April 15th and act like hate mongers and racists, hoping that the media will capture this and portray it, and that people will believe it.

You know what's funny?  Liberals and left wing radicals will have absolutley  no trouble acting like racists and hate mongers.  They will have no problem lying, and being deceptive, and placing blame on others.

That should tell you everyting you need to know about what these idiots have done to the democrat party.

VAT's All Folks!

The solution to irresponsible spending is always irresponsible taxation.  They go together like Peanut butter and Jelly, Root beer and Ice, like rama lama lama ke ding a de dinga a dong.  And to get them the liberals in New Hampshire do the same thing as the liberals in Washington.  They expand every department—in the case of DC some budgets more than doubled—pile on a few more social programs, and then claim it would cripple “services” you never knew you needed if they were to cut anything.

When the unwashed masses complain, the liberals troll out useful idiots, well paid experts, or stage props in wheel chairs, homeless mothers, or parentless children, and plead for empathy.  And then they tell you they’ll have to cut cops, fireman, and teachers.  (Imagine if the only thing you had to pay for was cops, fireman, and teachers?)  The goal is to never, ever let you have your way.  They must spend.  You must pay.  No amount of taxation will ever be enough.

Locally, we’re at a cross roads.  Like most crossroads there is a devil standing there ready to make a deal.  And since we’re letting greedy spendaholic politicians do the talking kiss your fiscal soul good buy.

Nationally, we are plummeting off a cliff, pushed from behind by the Obama Administration after being called over to the edge by a charlatan with a promise of a new view.  The golden parachute we are now told we must embrace (or else!) —maybe pay for is a better term--is the Value Added Tax.

For those unfamiliar, in any manufacturing or distribution chain there are steps at which value may be added to something.  Sometimes they are few, and some many.  The VAT proposes to apply a tax to every one of them, with the added option of massive lobbying (which you pay for in the cost of goods sold) to seek favoritism, exclusions, limitations, or other favors from the government in an effort to avoid the VAT or to tweak the code in a way so that it punishes competitors.

The end result is that everything costs more.  In some cases a good deal more.  And you pay that more, every day diminishing your income, and your potential income, as businesses compete for price by reducing wage growth, benefits, and employment opportunities, which we must assume the government intends to pick up the cost of with it’s big tax-collecting heart.  No, The VAT is not a jobs bill, it is an anti jobs bill.

And the VAT will not replace any other tax.  When you argue that you have to have more money, how can you then suggest you are really only replacing one tax with another?

The VAT also reduces competition by creating a new mechanism by which social corporatists (big business and government) can weed out choice and innovation in deference to wealth and power.  Companies that can’t run lean to compete on price, or lobby for exceptions, will go out of business.

So while liberals claim to be all about redistributing wealth and power to the lower classes that is just another lie.  They actually want to distribute it, like any good third world tyrant, to their friends and family—who for future reference are to be referred to as ‘The Experts’ who will be telling us all how to live.  And you, you get the VAT, which will have no affect on their standard of living, and forever change yours.
