Carol Shea-Porter has an opinion about money. Other peoples money. Linked to high placed political launderers who convert ear-marks into campaign contributions. And when given a chance to support ethics she jumped ship and swam for her life.
HR 425, an attempt to keep the ethics fire under Rep Murtha, was tabled on May 12th in part thanks to Carol's good works. The resolution implicates the PMA group, its head--Paul Magliocchetti, John Murtha, and some 3.4 million in political donations with some 284 member of congress.
The resolution would require a 2 month investigation for the purpose of revealing details about the connections between PMA, the cash, and earmarks. It's about ethics, and 215 democrats--Carol-Shea-Porter among them--voted to shut it down. (In part because they risked being faced with future ads tying them to political corrution and flagging them as "Under Investigation" by the House ethics committee. But more than likely becasue they can be connected to the cash.)
So this is actually better. There is rampant corruption afoot, and Shea-Porter voted to hide it.
In the 2008 election cycle Shea-Porter received cash from Murtha's PAC and several other big democrat leaders, like Pelosi, Rangle, Emanuel, all of whom have a history of political corruption; all likley connected to Murtha's antics and PMA. And now she's helping to hide it.
Someone needs to look into this further, but for now Carol's on the hook for helping to hide ethics violations, campaign cash corruption, pay to play political pandering, and or impeding an investigation that might begin to fulfill Pelosi's un-kept promise that hers would be the most ethical congress in history.
Of course you'd need to replace what, 215 democrats to get there from here?
