This is the Sands Bethworks Casino in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. It’s the former U.S. Steel mill that closed in 1995 laying off hundreds of steel workers and significantly reducing the taxbase of this city on the Lehigh River.
It’s like New Hampshire.
The center of the photo is the newly constructed parking garage, the square glassed structure is the elevator complex to the casino floor and the roofed building which was once a steel manufacturing area is now the main casino floor including at least six kinds of restaurants. Finally, the new construction under the crane to the left will be site of loft and condominiums. Millions of dollars of taxbase and jobs for this area of Pennsylvania instead of a rusting hulk of a property.
Why New Hampshire can’t do this.
