Today I witnessed a conversation that confirms 'in politics nothing is ever as it seems.' It was kinda funny too.
So I'm drinking coffee at an establishment and two females are doing their rendition of the Brittney Spears mentality and excitedly explaining to everyone that they're going to be in music video this weekend. So I'm thinking that there probably isn't too much substance here unless MTV is involved and some front page musician or group could be coming to northern New Hampshire...
"It's about the Northern Pass." one of them says bouncing around and she can't be more than 20 years old.
Then I saw something that I rarely see in a situation like this. Someone actually challenged them.
"I support the Northern Pass because of the jobs it will bring to New Hampshire." said a man who looked like he was in construction or something close to this. And then he went on to say, "Why are you against the Northern Pass?" Then I saw something I rarely see in a situation like this. They actually responded with something that even resembled intelligence and existence of a brain. Even if the response was completely false. "If the Northern Pass goes through New Hampshire won't receive any money from renewable energy." one of the music videans said an almost serious look on her young, innocent face. Wow!!! Money. Renewable Energy. Words can't describe, engaging social, political and thought provoking conversation in northern New Hampshire!!!
If only this were the case.
Hydro Quebec is the largest operator of hydroelectric dams on the North American continent so, if the Northern Pass project does proceed, which I hope it doesn't, New Hampshire will not only receive a little bit of money from renewable energy, it will receive alot of money from renewable energy. But I'm not going to sit here and speculate as to how the aspiring actresses in the upcoming music video arrived at their political positions; it's good that they are at least getting involved with an important issue facing New Hampshire-- and who knows this experience may spark their interest in learning and doing more.
If you would like to be in a music video about opposition to the Northern Pass here is some information that might be of assistance.
