Promoting The State.

On Saturday I'm going down to Meredith to ride the "Ray Burton Railroad Promotion Marketing Day."train sponsored by. I've riden this yearly train many times starting in the late 1980s, but this year will be historical it may very be the last train to leave the station...

It's also interesting how things change. When I first started riding the train it was more or less an informal event, simply show up.

Now it's by reservation only they're even now selling $10.00 tickets for a spaghetti dinner that used to be free. Of course the world has to change this is part of life. I'll stop short of saying it is progress. Just more rules, more rules. Some people thrive on rules, creating the rules explaining the rules and justifying the rules and likely their own position that was created by these same rules.

This railroad promotion marketing day serves to promote not only rail and it's capabilities but the state ownership of the Concord-Lincoln railroad line which it's owned since 1972. The line features both freight and passenger operations which are leased out to companies like the New England Southern and the Hobo Railroad.

I'll be writing more about the train later on in the week...
