They Will Win. They Will.

I try not to subscribe to conspiracy theories guess I’m still somewhat naïve with the belief that there is still some sense of freedom and capitalism in this state and country.

My ideas are quickly being dashed.

I’ve lived in a small town for some time I ran for selectman twice, lost both races and later ran for state representative and won two races and lost a third in a contested primary. I think I at least have an idea of how the politics works in my town and surrounding areas. And from what I’m now seeing wealthy people from New York and Massachusetts are now going to be making all the decision(s) going forward while the locals or natives simply accept these decision(s) or I’m confident they’ll be encouraging us to leave.

A case in point:

A new holistic, healing center is being built and constructed at clearly a substantial expense. The application sailed through the planning board on a voice vote. The developers and partners I'm told are all from New York and there has been no communication(s) about their plans or presence in this town.

They Will Win. They Will.Hollistic Healing the venue of choice amongst the powerful and the infuential.

Meanwhile, a local well known businessman with to the community proposes to construct a drag strip in a vacant, remote, unused area of town miles away from the closest home or even a paved road.

You would think Ghengus Khan was coming to town. The planning board and their spandex wearing, palates exercising female, thoughtful and intelligent members don’t think drag racing meets the standards of “their town.” I’d be willing to be bet that they’re like Gov. Hassan they’ve "never been to a casino either."

But they’ll win. I’m reading that the town has already hired legal counsel and they’re updating the town zoning ordinances and “permitted uses.” In other words they get to decide what is done with a piece of unused, vacant land.

For those of you that think drag racing is bad please take a moment to look at this UTUBE video on the subject.

So much for freedom because they decide.
