Several months ago the council defeated item #111 a state contract that would have awarded a lease to Pan Am Railways to operate the state owned line from west of Nashua to Bennington.
This was a bad vote and example of how NH taxpayers ultimately lose because of bad state politics.
There hasn’t been any rail service on the line for some reported two years and I’m understanding that there isn’t any rail service on the line now. And Pan Am Railways wants to come into NH gain a state lease, provide needed rail service into the region and then pay into the state treasury for the rights to do so.
Something is really wrong here.
