No Jobs Being Created.

In yesterday's Wall Street Journal there was an interesting article that I think demonstrates what is really happening. The closure of this IP Mill will be similar to what has happened in New Hampshire.

And it is happening.

Global paper conglomerate International Paper (IP) is announcing the closure of it's Courland, Alabama paper mill, effectively reducing it paper making capacity by 1/3. A move that puts over 1100 workers out on the bricks in addition to the financial losses that will be suffered by vendors and supporting businessses of the mill.

People are using e-mail now and the need for paper isn't as great as it once was.

I wonder if Alabama has these state 'reaction teams' like NH has and various state agencies that help the unemployed workers find jobs at places like McDonald's and Starbucks Coffee.

My guess is that Alabama does not.
